We opted to stay at the Hotel Indigo because it was within walking distance of downtown Columbus, which turned into an excellent reason for choosing it. There are several excellent restaurants and restaurant/sports bar type places within a few block of the hotel. Plus, many of the architectural gems of Columus are also within walking distance. I would have to say that the Veterans Memorial was incredibly moving and ranks right up there with the Vietnam Memorial in Washington DC, albeit considerably smaller. Enough about Columbus though. The Hotel Indigo is relatively new. The docor is very contemporary with vibrant colors and crisp lines. The rooms we stayed in was quite nice with a nice washroom, very comfortable bed, a flat panel TV and both wired and wireless internet access. Once we figured out how to use the coffee maker that uses the small sealed plastic coffee containers, we were happy campers. Try to get a room on the West side which has a better view than the East side which faces the city. The only disadvantage to the West side is the close proximity to train tracks with which has very limited train traffic. The walls are not very soundproof but not terrible. The hotel staff was very friendly, but not always where we needed them. I think the hotel might be slightly under staffed. We had hoped ot have breakfast one morning and waited for several minutes at the cashier's station, and could hear people talking in the kitchen but no one came out to wait on us. Consequently, we walked to a local restaurant called Forks which we had dinner at the night before. It's an incredible restaurant!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We had one very negative unfortunate experience at the hotel. The hotel does allow pets. In the middle of the night, two dogs started to bark in a room about six rooms away from us. Apparently, the two ladies that were staying in the room, ignored all calls to their room and had bolted their door so that the staff could not enter the room. When we called the desk, the lady was very apologetic, but was unable to do anything about the situation. I'd chalk that up to very rude and inconsiderate guests and to the fact that the hotel allows pets. I also used the one eliptical rider in the relatively small but clean fitness center, which was a very good model. Unfortunately, it was in need of adjustment because it was very noisy when in the reverse mode. The bottom line is this. We would probably stay at the hotel again, especially if we wanted to be close to downtown Columbus, otherwise we would try the Courtyard which was right off of I65. The price was just a little higher that we'd like to pay (we got an AARP discount too) but not bad for the amenities and experience we had. It beats staying in any of the Nashville, IN hotels which are considerably more expensive just to stay in a quaint touristy town.
