Description: This is a chain of Mexican-like food where they shove huge meals into a burrito. It just opened in September (I think?) and has an emphasis on morally less reprehensible sourcing of foods.

“Good, but expensive.”

The prices are too high for the amount of food. Rather have Moe's from Bloomington. They even charge extra for Gaucamole on your burrito.

A healthier version of Mexican food, different approach, consistently good, reasonably priced

“Come hungry as it is a lot of food!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 27, 2011

This is a brand new restaurant for Columbus, right off National Road (US31) past the 25th street intersection if heading south. It is newly renovated and looks clean and bright and has out door and indoor seating. This is like most of the chain, but we found the servers very friendly and helpful, offering to let us taste things and explaining how different things are spiced and served, so it was easy to get started if you have not been to a Chipoltle before.

The philosophy seems to be that everything taste better wrapped in a tortilla, although you can choose to get it without the tortilla if you prefer. You go through a line where you can see the food and order exactly what you want, including how spicy you would like it. We all got burritos, but they were each uniquely different from one another, custom made as we watched; vegetarian, chicken, beef, pork, a couple of kinds of beans, rice, sauces, cheese. Lots of food no matter what you select.

The decor is spare and modern, the food was promoted as sustainable, antibiotic free, local....I am not sure of all they claimed, but it was good and fresh and the portions were generous. The guacamole costs extra because they make it up fresh several times a day, and it is definitely worth the extra charge!
