I've been to this venue a few times now over the years and have always enjoyed the experience. My wife and I visited this night to see Derby Dinner's rendition of "The Wizard of Oz" and they did not disappoint. In fact, on a scale of 1-10 I'd give this show a 14. The actors and actresses are talented beyond what one expects at such a small venue and the cast makes the most of the resources available in an in-the-round setting where there are really no bad seats.. This was the best event I've seen here but all have been good. Given the publicity that Actor's Theatre and the Kentucky Center for the Arts off Broadway shows receive just across the river in Louisville, I'd say the Derby Dinner Playhouse in Clarksville is a hidden jewel. The productions are wonderful and as a plus you get to eat all you want. The buffet is just average with a salad bar, sliced ham or turkey, fried chicken, fried catfish, mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans, carrots, broccoli casserole, fresh rolls. The food is no better or worse than you would find at many buffet venues but is a nice compliment to a show that is wonderful. The waiters & waitresses are often part of the cast and are very friendly and attentive. The desserts are excellent and a great break during intermission during which you can have specialty drinks too. Recommendation: have dinner at Derby Dinner and then feast on a wonderful production by a talented staff sure to please..
