“Excellent - exeeds expectations!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 6, 2013

I've been to this venue a few times now over the years and have always enjoyed the experience. My wife and I visited this night to see Derby Dinner's rendition of "The Wizard of Oz" and they did not disappoint. In fact, on a scale of 1-10 I'd give this show a 14. The actors and actresses are talented beyond what one expects at such a small venue and the cast makes the most of the resources available in an in-the-round setting where there are really no bad seats.. This was the best event I've seen here but all have been good. Given the publicity that Actor's Theatre and the Kentucky Center for the Arts off Broadway shows receive just across the river in Louisville, I'd say the Derby Dinner Playhouse in Clarksville is a hidden jewel. The productions are wonderful and as a plus you get to eat all you want. The buffet is just average with a salad bar, sliced ham or turkey, fried chicken, fried catfish, mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans, carrots, broccoli casserole, fresh rolls. The food is no better or worse than you would find at many buffet venues but is a nice compliment to a show that is wonderful. The waiters & waitresses are often part of the cast and are very friendly and attentive. The desserts are excellent and a great break during intermission during which you can have specialty drinks too. Recommendation: have dinner at Derby Dinner and then feast on a wonderful production by a talented staff sure to please..

“Engaging Performances - Delicious Buffet!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 4, 2013 via mobile

My husband, 2 daughters, and I visited Derby Dinner Playhouse for the Sunday evening performance of "The Wizard of Oz". This was an experience enjoyed by the entire family.

Buffet dinner was from 6:00-7:10. Buffet included sliced ham, fried catfish, fried chicken, broccoli casserole, mashed potatoes, steamed carrots, and salad bar (+ several more items). Food was better than expected for a dinner theater. I filled up and did not have room for dessert.
The buffet is included in the $40 ticket price. Desserts are extra. Water, coffee & tea are also included. Sodas and alcoholic beverages are available for additional charge.
The cast did an amazing job with "The Wizard of Oz". I was in awe with how quickly the crew transformed the center stage between acts. At Derby Dinner, the stage is in the center of the room. There are
no "bad" seats.
My only wish was that they included something else to drink besides tea/coffee with the buffet. I'm not a fan of either beverage. However, that's a minor complaint. Overall, the experience was very enjoyable and relaxing.
Easy access off I-65 to the theater.
We will come back.

“You're Only Young Twice - Fun Play!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 8, 2013

I am a volunteer of Hosparus of New Albany and we were treated to an evening at the Derby Dinner Playhouse. The singing group before the play did an excellent job! The play was funny and the actors did a WONDERFUL job - the timing, the facial expressions, everything was great!! Hope to get back here again and see another play soon!
