“Exciting visit!!”
Reviewed October 1, 2013 via mobile

First, let me ask where else can you go and for $10 be able to come up as close as three feet to a full grown tiger with only a chain link fence between the tiger and his dinner (you)? No where that I know of.

This is not a zoo. It is similar to big cats in the wild. The staff is friendly and offers the history of the cats you are seeing on the tour which takes about an hour.

It could be hot in the summer with all the vegetation and trees around.

A really great experience and well worth the drive and the $10 entrance fee.

“Wonderful experience”
Reviewed September 21, 2013

If you love lions and tigers this will be heaven for you. The staff are all wonderful with the animals and know each and everyone of them by name and personality. They took us on a very informative tour and the love they feel for these animals is obvious. Just be aware that it can be hot in the summer and the flies are large and hungry on the walk. It also has an aroma that can be quite noticeable but that's to be expected and not unbearable. It was amazing watching the girls lifting huge amounts of meat to give to the cats using just their hands. We stayed overnight and outside our window were animals only a few feet away. They also have an adorable house cat right outside your door that can come in your room and visit if you like. Everyone of the staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome. The 2nd tour we took the next day included watching them butcher the meat donated from farms etc. and an even more extensive tour of the other part of the park which is included in the overnight stay. It was amazing how well they know each animal. Nothing is scripted and everything they say comes from the heart. Every part of this experience was memorable and we look forward to doing this again next year. These animals are very lucky to have been brought here especially given their lives before they were rescued by these fantastic caregivers. This is a must visit place for any animal lover.

“It's Cat-tastic”
Reviewed September 4, 2013

The Exotic Feline Rescue Center is a center for rescued big cats, as the name indicates. This is not a petting zoo, but rather an educational facility to teach visitors about the tragedies of the lives of these beautiful big cats and how people have tried to make pets of or money from them. Guides will lead you through the facility and tell you the stories of the cats. If you have the opportunity to go on a special event day, you can see the cats receive gifts of watermelons or pumpkins filled with meat treats. There are special night events, as well, as cats are nocturnal animals and become active and entertaining in the evening. There is a gift shop where you can buy shirts and photo gifts. I have visited twice and will definately go back.

“For true animal lovers”
Reviewed August 10, 2013

As the name states, this is an amazing Rescue Center. This is NOT a zoo - so if you're looking for paved parking lots and restaurants and trains and shows and kiddie rides and changing tables and slushies and beer - well in that case, please visit your nearest city zoo instead.

Now that we've gotten that out of the way: the EFRC is utterly amazing. We've been there twice, and I find it enriching, educational, and deeply moving. It all started with one man's deep love of big cats, and he has devoted his life 100% to rescuing them from negligence, abuse, illness, and starvation. It is a true privilege to walk by the tigers, lions, cougars, servals, bobcats, and leopards in their green outdoor enclosures. It's even more of a privilege to talk with the dedicated staff and volunteers. If you love animals, you'll like this. If you've ever adopted an animal, you'll love this.

“Amazing!”
Reviewed August 10, 2013

Although tragic, being able to see tigers, lions, leopards, cougars, etc. only a few feet away was AMAZING! These animals were seized from abusive owners and rescued by these good people to give them a tolerable place to live in the woods of Indiana. The location is a little bit out of the way, but well worth the time to get there as well as the small price of admission. You won't be disappointed.
