Are you looking for the complete Japanese experience heavy on excellent food and superior service? Then you want to try Sansui, Carmel’s oldest Japanese restaurant. This hidden gem is tucked away on Range Line Road, just south of Carmel Drive. Sansui while a fixture in the area, has undergone a renovation making the interior inviting and light.
My husband and I sampled their sushi experience, which included miso soup, house salad or seaweed salad and four sushi rolls of our choice. We ordered Hoosier Roll, Spicy Crispy Roll, Futomaki, and Arizona Roll. All were delicious, but the Futomaki was my favorite. My husband enjoyed the spicy crispy roll. Sansui also features a large range of Japanese beer, wine, and saki. My husband enjoyed a bottle of Sapparo, while I enjoyed a house wine.
Sansui features a wide range of noodle dishes, bento boxes, chicken, and seafood dinners. They also feature sashimi, plus twenty-eight separate appetizers. All presented by a friendly, courteous staff. This is our second visit, and definitely not our last. I highly recommend it.
We have actually been to several Japanese restaurants, and enjoyed our visit very much.
