Great day to spend with friends! We enjoyed clear blue skies, cold and crisp air and a great get away from the winter work days. David is so knowledgeable and shares his enthusiasm for nature. He summarized our viewing in a follow up email: we saw 35 species including 3 pairs of whooping cranes, 6 bald eagles including nesting female and male, snow geese, swans, ducks, sandhill cranes, meadowlarks, hawks, sparrows, killdeer, ......the list goes on.
The guided tour was well worth it as we would never have known how to spot and identify the many birds we saw without his knowledge.
Highly recommend!
This was my first birding tour with a guide. David does a great job of providing all that you will need for your adventure like scopes and binoculars. He even provides drinks and snacks if you need them. He can take you to areas where you'll most likely see the birds you want to view. I saw Whooping Cranes, Snow Geese, Eagles and tons of White Pelicans, all first time finds for me. What I like most is that he is able to tell you the who, what and where about the area as well as the identification of the birds. He is sensitive to his customers needs as well. Money well spent and a fantastic day of birding. You won't go wrong booking an Indigo Birding tours.
I'm fairly new to birding and bird photography and hoped this tour would help me with improving as photographing birds has proven a challenge. I'd hoped to see an owl and more wildlife but we did see several birds and got some pics. Didn't have any luck improving my photography skills but glad we gave it a try.
After reading about IndiGoBirding over a year ago, it sounded like the perfect gift for my wife. Scheduling conflicts conspired to keep us from enjoying the fruits of the gift until yesterday. It was well worth the wait.
David is a fabulous tour guide, easy-going and extremely knowledgeable and helpful. Every bird was worth seeing and discussing, from the most "common" to the most magical. We'd stop on a gravel road to focus our binoculars (supplied by David) on a bird one of us had spotted and then find ourselves out of the van with the long-range scope trained on another group of birds of even more interest. Nothing was rushed. All was fascinating.
Our late afternoon to dusk tour began with a clear view of a bald eagle turning its neck side to side in its high nest. The tour continued on to see hundreds of white pelicans in the water and soaring in flocks low to the water and high in the sky. There was an eastern meadowlark, sitting on a stalk at dusk with its bright yellow chest and even brighter, clear song. Harriers and owls soaring above fields. Waterfowl which I would have just called waterfowl but learned how to distinguish the coots, mergansers, shovelheads and terns. With David, a snipe hunt was not the proverbial fool's errand. He showed us snipes in fields and in flight, their long beaks giving them away.
It was all fun and magical. Darkness brought the tour to an end but, wow, what a great time we had. I strongly recommend David's tour.
I met David while writing an article about birding tours and decided to book him for my 60th birthday. Who knew what awaited us?We went to Goose Pond during migration and saw Sandhill Cranes, pelicans, snow geese in flight, a bald eagle on its nest, and several hawks (among many others). Much to our surprise, he pointed out three whooping cranes in flight and explained that there are only 600 of these in existence. It took my breath away. My parents loved birds and I inherited that, but have not spent much time learning more than I picked up as a child. The sense of awe I experienced cannot be expressed as well as I would like. He was kind, informative and helpful. I couldn't have asked for a better way to celebrate a milestone birthday.

This was my first guided experience in nature, and it was spectacular! David is a wonderful tour guide for beginners and seasoned explorers. His warmth, his sensitivity to the needs of the group, and especially his knowledge of the land and its creatures made for a wonderful afternoon that we are still talking about. All that and snacks, too! I'm eager to do it again.
