My girlfriend is Indian...I don't know that it gives her any special abilities or super powers, but lets just say she has eaten her fair share of Indian cuisine. Both of us were very under-whelmed with the food.

As far as the review... look at them. They all have about the same number of 'helpful' votes.. 2nd best restaurant in Bloomington??!!! Not a chance! It's not even the 2nd best Indian place...

I'm sure the people are nice, sweet and warm, but the food is just not good.

This is currently the highest rated restaurant on Trip Advisor. It is good. But it is not remotely close to being the best restaurant in town.

Staff are among the most friendly & helpful I've been around. Certainly ease experience of trying unfamiliar foods.

I spent few months in Bloomington and happy to confess that my stay was made more comfortable due to this restaurant. The food, the owner couple and the staff were excellent hosts. The food is less spicy and delicious. The best part of the food is the availability of food from each part of India.
If you really want to feel the taste of Indian food, you may also join them during festival nights of Diwali.
I enjoyed the food at Bomaby cafe.

The restaurant recently moved, and I have not been to the new location. However, the storefront doesn't really matter. You don't go to Bombay Café for the ambience, you go for the food. The owner is happy to share his knowledge and to help you choose what to order if you aren't sure. Everything we've ever ordered was amazing, and the vegetable samosas are the gold standard to which other restaurants are compared (and come up short.) Not sure what you want? The combo lets you try two entrees. Be sure to order some naan to soak up the sauce! You don't want any of this food to go to waste!
