“Tyler wasn't here that day.”
Reviewed April 4, 2013

We came here at a time when they were shutting down for the winter, I think, and yet the awe we felt was overwhelming. This is where The Prophet, leader of the Shawnee, was supposedly atop a huge rock during a seminal battle against the soldiers who wanted to steal their land. Well, it was something like that. Stop here to picnic and visit the fine gift shop where they have all sorts of unique offerings. I think maybe the county historical society runs this, so it is open at odd hours, but you can walk the battlegrounds any time. There is a little town called Battleground nearby, and West Lafayette is pretty close too.

“Nice educational activity”
Reviewed March 30, 2013

A simple, but small museum that has preserved local American history. A nice educational activity. Explanations of many artifacts and detailed descriptions of the tragic battle involving Natives and Americans. One can only imagine how horrific this battle was. The tour does not take more than an hour or so. I visited with my son who attends Purdue. $5.00 entry fee with $1 discount for students, AAA, AARP, etc.

“History and nature”
Reviewed March 30, 2013 via mobile

I usually pass through as I park in the lot and head down to the Wabash Heritage Trail behind the monument and information center. I have been through the historical and informational portions of the site a few times with school groups and the people there are very helpful and knowledgeable. They can provide many details on the battle and the natural features of the area. A fun addition is to go across the creek and hike up to Prophet's Rock, especially mid-Spring or in the Fall.
