Came across Akai Hana on a Sunday night before the 4th of July. Not many restaurants to choose from. Took a chance on this Japanese restaurant located in a small strip mall that had other Japanese businesses. Japanese cuisine is not our usual fare; we are Thai and Cambodian fans. However, as folks who enjoy seafood, we were delighted with our selections. I had an entree of classic tempura, deep fried shrimp and a variety of vegetables, served with miso soup and rice. The shrimp were crisp, non-watery and seemingly fresh. The batter was light, crisp and non-oily...just right. My wife enjoyed a pan-fried sea bass with teriyaki sauce and was pleased. There is a lively atmosphere, great service and clearly many repeat customers, young and old, Asian and Russians among others.
