“Expensive”
Reviewed May 11, 2013

Order carry out for two, and it was expensive for the portions received at Wheeling location. Milwaukee location is better for atmosphere, and friendliness.

“Buca' the best - go there once a week!”
Reviewed March 30, 2013

It's not fancy.. They have very traditional Italian food. They season it perfectly, and their pasta is always al dente. (And, you don't have to explain to them what that means!) Their Spicy Chicken Rigatoni is to die for. And if you ask, they'll add artichoke hearts which makes it even better. Keep the bread coming! Sit in the kitchen if you can, it's a fun experience.

“Fun Place to Go for Italian Food”
Reviewed March 23, 2013

Buca is a fun place, but it is a national chain. There are so many pictures of Italy & Italians on the wall, you could spend an entire day looking at them all. The Wheeling Buca even has a "Pope Room" available for large parties and you can request to be seated at the booth in the kitchen.

The Wheeling, IL Buca is located across the street from a large chain hotel and does a lot of business with clientele staying at the hotel since it's within walking distance of the hotel.

One thing to note: it can get very noisy and difficult to hear your conversations with each other in the restaurant - especially in the smaller dining rooms. Food costs can be expensive, but food portions are large. A large portion serves 4-5 and is usually around $32; a small portion serves 2 and is around $20. If you go with a group, the word is share, share, share your food! Join Buca's club on their website and you will regularly get coupons to use at the restaurant. It's free & well worth it!

We try to get to Buca at least 1x/month. It's a pleasure to eat there - especially the chicken marsala and the chopped antipasta salad!!

“No love in the food!”
Reviewed January 25, 2013

18 of my colleagues sat at the "Pope's" table. They serve family style and that was great option for so many people. One waiter did an excellent job with the food and drinks. Now, this is supposedly an Italian restaurant but you would never guess from the taste. The pasta was ok but the sauce was really disappointing. Zero flavor and bland. The chicken primavera served large juicy breast but it had no flavor, none with the same sauce The cheese ravioli was good but again the sauce, the same issue.

Frozen chocolate cake that was still thawing out was eh.... and sadly the tiramisu was another miss. All together, this was nowhere close to Italian...
