Went to Saranello's with a party of 7. From the moment you arrive at the Westin Hotel in Wheeling you can see the restaurant with its beautiful rust colored awnings. The restaurant itself is kind of noisy, but very pretty inside. For appetizers we ordered Parmesean Onions which were not fried so didn't really care for that. Delicious Bruchetta and the group loved the Antipasta platter.Every bite of the appetizers was eaten. I ordered Pistachio Crusted Whitefish and I didn't leave one crumb....delicious. My husband had a steak he said was outstanding and his favorite, a bowl of his own mashed potatoes. My daughter and niece had the Gnocchi and they said it was really good, except the portion was too small. Our friend had the special which was pork loin and said it was good. All in all pretty darn good food.
The only thing I did not like is that our waitress was competent, but not friendly at all. They only put two little plates of olive oil on the table for 7 which is ridiculous so I asked the waitress if she could pour the oil on individual plates. She reached over one of our heads to get the oil off of a credenza and then poured a few more plates with the oil. When she got to the end of the table she said, oh, no more in the bottle and never came back with any more. I felt she was stingy with it...why? It's an Italian restaurant for goodness sake! That's what you do eat the bread and oil!
The prices at Saranello's are reasonable for such a nice place. I felt it was definitely worh the money.
