Great place for families, all ages! At the museum, walk through a WWI bunker, try your strategies in interactive displays, walk out of your PT boat onto Normandy Beach and let your kids climb on real army tanks. Stroll through beautiful gardens - lovely roses, kids' gardens, etc. Golf, see a free concert or Shakespeare-in-the-park, and tour the McCormick (yes, like the spices) mansion. I go back several times a year!

Great place to bring the kids so they can run and learn a little history. McCormick Foundation does a wonderful job.

We were in the area to visit the Chicago Botanic Garden, and a friend suggested we make a quick stop ... we did and it was great. The land was the home of Colonel Robert R. McCormick and given to the city to be used as a public area for education and recreation. The park was filled with mums, which are apparently grown on site, as well as Halloween displays created by the park volunteers. There is a war museum, which is a must see. It showcases the history of the "Big Red One," the military unit with a long and venerated history. There's two golf courses, one for adults and one for children. We did not play or visit, however. We can highly recommend visiting here for the beauty of nature.

This is my go-to place in the Chicagoland area for flowers. In my opinion it is much better than any conservatory or garden anywhere around. Dahlias, roses, daisies, and so much more and they change with the seasons too. So many different flower beds. Great photo opportunity for families, weddings, or just a flower enthusiast like me. You just have to check it out!
