On the grounds of the former McCormick (Chicago Tribune) family property, the gardens, and museums of Cantigny are a great way to spend a morning or afternoon; make sure to bring a camera. The lovely gardens, some of which change seasonally, are easily accessed from the parking area. The museums and tank park, with about a dozen tanks that you can climb on, focus on WW II and the McCormick family. There is a picnic area with some equipment for kids as well as food for sale in the Visitor Center. There are also seasonal events so check their calendar before you make the trip. Parking is $5/car.
