We enjoyed the New Year's Eve prix fixe dinner. It was expensive but the food was excellent and the wine pairing fit each entrée. The five servings were just the right size. Each course was very good but the beef entrée and the chocolate beignet dessert were fabulous. The strip steak was amazingly tender and flavorful. The beignet was filled with warm Valhrona chocolate which was a good send off on a cold winter's night.

Just when you think Vie's food couldn't get any better, Chef Paul outdoes his artistic ability by treating us to samples of wild mushroom gnocchi, deep-fried brussels sprouts you absolutely must have! Both fish dishes at our table were absolutely delicious one being a sturgeon with polenta side and the other a pike! To top it off we had a
rosewater infused after dinner drink served in an old-fashioned manner!! What a treat for any occasion!!

Perhaps one of the best, if not the best, restaurants in western Chicago suburbs. Exceptional service, wonderful menu, outstanding food. Quiet, well paced meal. They don't rush you.

Vie was our favorite restaurant in Chicago. We were very impressed with our first visit last July. The food was outstanding and the service was superb (a young lady was overseeing the service). When we went back last week, we chose the tasting menu (5 course). It was not as impressive as last time. The chicken with cranberry compote was bland and the smoked plum flavor in the scallop dish was overwhelming. The mushroom gnocchi was as usual outstanding. The cheese plate was very ordinary with only one cow-milk cheese served. I can't even remember what the dessert was (chocolate?). The most disturbing aspect of the dinner was the lackadaisical service. They brought in bread which was cold! The male waiter served us wine by the glass without even asking us to taste it first. Most surprisingly, he did not ask us whether we need another glass when finished. This careless attitude is extremely surprising for a restaurant of Vie's calibre. Something was definitely not right that evening. I am not sure I will go back to dine at Vie any time soon. They have to improve the service a lot to get us back to dine there again. We hope they do make some changes.

This wonderful restaurant is in a small town west of Chicago along the rail line. Located in an o,d bank building the decor and ambience is simple, clean, quiet, and romantic. The menu is creative, the service is very attentive, and the food is, of course, quite fresh. My favorite dish was the lettuce soup because it was flavored with a red pepper sauce that made it so tasty I didn't want to finish! I found the fish dish to be a little on the greasy side thus the subtraction of a star.
