I had to go to Waukegan on company business and decided to take the family for a mini vacation. We needed something a little bigger than the normal one room hotel and I found the Residence Inn to meet all of our needs. The pool and hot tub is a nice change in the summer and this hotel not only has a fantastic hot breakfast, it also provides a light dinner w/ free drinks (beer & wine too). Great place to stay!

Room Tip: Ask for a ground floor suite.

I stayed here with a colleague on a business trip. It seemed like the vast majority of other visitors were interns or employees of the medical companies in the vicinity (mainly Abbott but possibly Cardinal Health) or were there for some sort of Navy-related function (e.g. graduation ceremonies). The hotel is being repainted currently but that did not inconvenience our stay in any manner other than the plastic sheeting over the windows. I always appreciate the free breakfast in the morning and hospitality events in the evening. It is so convenient to be able to grab a bite to eat right at the hotel before heading off to work (or play) for the day and it is even nicer to pour a free beer or glass of wine when you get back to the hotel at night! I did not take advantage of the kitchen facilities in the room this time around (other than making some coffee in the morning), but that is always a nice convenience to consider when booking a hotel.

For extended stay visitors especially, Residence Inn is the place to be!

Our trip to Waukegan was to see our son graduate from Navy bootcamp. We arrived late the night before and the front desk told gave us some valuable information regarding our sons ceremony. They told us to leave very early to guarantee a good seat at the graduation and that they would have a continental breakfast waiting for us at 5:30am. They also gave us a package of information on the area and what to see and do that was very helpful. They even had the directions to and from the base for us from the hotel. I was so thankful for all this help from the Residence Inn. They really went above and beyond for us and all the other military families that were their for their son's and daughter's.

Our one bedroom suite was very comfortable and everything that we needed to cook a meal was provided. The pool and jacuzzi were both very nice to have as was the gym. We enjoyed the breakfast buffet that was provided too. Waffles, eggs, sausage, cereal, muffins, yogurt and on was available.

The Residence Inn really made our trip easy for us and we felt special with all the thoughtful tips and information that they provided. We will continue to use Marriott
brand hotels in the future. Thank you Marriott for being so thoughtful.

This is a nice place for parents of graduating Navy children. Staff were friendly and helpful. Rooms were good size and plenty of amenitys. It is only about 10 minutes from Great lakes recruit training command. Gurney flash taxi was a rip off to go to midway airport to see sailor off. Told my wife it was $75 and when they got in cab it turned in to $180. Told her he would have to go out of state to get to it (lie).

Room Tip: We had a 2bed suite

We booked 2 suites for our daughters graduation. Each suite was perfectly set up for our family. The kitchen area was such a plus. Scrapping our plans to sight see when finding out we had only a few hours with our Sailor, we came back to our suite. It was like hanging out at home. The kitchen made having all her favorite snacks and foods right at her fingertips. The living room area is comfortable and she could curl up and watch tv. Having the bedrooms on either side of the living area was also a plus. The pillows and bed were so comfortable, Plenty of room in the dressing/bathroom area. We would absolutely stay here again. Our only complain, and I mean only complaint was a funny smell from the garbage disposal which disappeared when I poured mouthwash down the drain.

Room Tip: Elevators were easily accessible, breakfast was very good, evening social hour a plus for travel wea...

Firstly, I am vey happy we got this room. My nephew was graduating navy boot camp so this was a perfect place to stay. The room was clean and well appointed with a kitchen area. Also, the location is fabulous and within a 2 minute drive to walmart and a multitude of restaurants in the area. The hotel also serves a nice hot breakfast where you can make your own waffles. The staff at the hotel was courteous and was great overall. My only complaint was that the mulch that they used on the grounds smelled like horse manure, so while you were immediately outside the hotel, it smelled like you were on a farm. To be fair, you couldn't smell it while you were inside the hotel or in your room. Other than that minor complaint, I would recommend that hotel.

If anyone is in the area to watch their loved ones graduate bootcamp, the cab companies have a thing were you pay 3 dollars per person each way to get you to the Naval base for graduation, because there is no parking in the area. Again, I would gladly stay again.

On a recent trip to the Chicagoland area, a colleague and I booked rooms at the Residence Inn Waukegan. The helpful and welcoming front desk attendant made our late-night arrival very pleasant. The property is clean; the rooms are simple but efficient. Each room has a nice sitting area and a full kitchen (and a full-sized coffee pot!). For long-term stays, travel with a family, or just a comfortable, reasonably-priced room for a night, this hotel is a nice choice.
