We stayed at the Rock Inn for 2 nights to enjoy the Tour of Britain. This is a traditional English pub/hotel which we very much enjoyed. Only room left when we booked was Jack Horner which was just fine. Not the best view ever, but very comfortable and well priced.
If you we're not brought up going to traditional hotels in the UK, you may want to bear in mind that these old buildings have been converted and therefore creaking boards, sounds of running water, neighbourly murmuring and so on are typical and can't be easily avoided. They are not sealed boxes, so you can't be too shy about using your en suite! Having mentioned that, the Rock Inn is totally par for the course, and the lovely character building more than outweighs any unexpected noises!
The staff were exceptional for the UK. Polite and respectful yet still friendly and very helpful for anything. In that respect the Rock Inn is far from standard and the management team are to be congratulated for the atmosphere and service standard they have created.
We had 2 breakfasts and 2 dinners in house, both very, very good.
No complaints at all, would go back anytime.More
