Really enjoyed this little museum. It has a number of full air frames and cockpit sections from aircraft from all periods as well as dioramas, exhibitions and models covering the WWI, the Blitz, the Cold War, and the civilian use of the airfield.
The staff here were great, welcoming and jovial and the admission fee of £1.50 for an adult was absolutely astounding. Nice little well-stocked shop too.
Combine this with a visit to the Spitfire and Hurricane Memorial Museum next door (the two establishments share a carpark) and you have a great aeronautical afternoon.

I enjoyed this much more than I thought I would. We hadn’t planned to visit and saw it as we were driving in the area. Entry of £1.50 for an adult is very cheap. There is a lot to look at including photos, written pieces, clothing, planes and other vehicles. There is quite a lot of information and photos of individual people which was interesting as well as the area and how the airports have changed over time from a number of aerial photos. Next door is a Spitfire and Hurricane Memorial Museum which we also looked round. The carpark isn't huge but there were plenty of spaces when we went. There are large grassy banks you can have a picnic on and watch the planes at the loacl airport take off. The volunteers who run the RAF museum were very helpful. There is a good range of gifts and books to buy.

Went here the day after the Manston Air Show (which I'm gutted I missed!). Entry is £1.50 which, in my opinion, is under-priced for what you get when visiting. The museum has many photos of RAF Manston from 1916 when the base first went into service, right up until the RAF departed the site in 1990. Many many fascinating articles about the role of the RAF base as well as relics from a by-gone era. Also have a few cockpit sections of various aircraft which would've operated from the base during its time as an RAF base. The staff were very polite and helpful when advised that it was the first time visiting. Will definitely go again.

What a treat - this museum is opposite the Spitfire & Hurricane Memorial Museum. A fairly large set-up, good historical content relating to Manston with some excellent exhibits, cockpits etc. Amazingly one of the volunteers said some people baulk at the £1.50 entrance fee!!

The day we attended was open cockpit day. A truly fantastic morning allowing the children the experience of climbing in and out of the cockpits and handling the controls. Run by experienced and knowledgeable volunteer enthusiasts, this was a well run event. Free for the under 5's, 50p for children and £1.50, this museum should really be visited by all who pass it by and would like to take a step back in time through aviation war time history. My 4 year old son particularly enjoyed the RAF rescue helicopter, where he spent a good hour or so acting out a rescue mission. Last stop was an ice cream at the cafe, which also served a good selection of meals, light snacks & refreshments. An excellent morning out.
