not a fan of cold weather, however, it was worthwhile to go to Starved Rock in January to see the Bald Eagles. Hiking was a little treacherous this time of year, so if you are planning to hike, come prepared!

We've been coming here for years. Lots of beautiful hiking trails. The lodge itself is gorgeous with a nice restaurant and plenty of comfy couches to sit and chat with friends and family. The outdoor dining area and bar & grill are great when the weather cooperates, and look out over the bluff onto the water. There are cabins you can rent, but the wait is very long so book in advance. We've stayed in the lodge and loved it.

Very pretty and clean, except for some grafitti that they tried to clean off the signs the best they could. We were able to see some wildlife including deer that were only a few feet away. How cool! We will be back next summer to go camping for sure!

Spent 2 days exploring Starved Rock State Park early in October. It's hard to describe the amazing natural beauty of the area. There were very few other people on the trails, so it felt like you were in your own private awesome world. Wear sturdy shoes, take water, and enjoy! Don't miss the Visitor Center and the movie. By the way....this incredible history and nature experience is FREE !!
