“Unforgettable Stay...Friendship...Peaceful and Relaxing!!”
Reviewed December 13, 2013

My wife and I took a week off and traveled through three different states, staying at different B&B's on our trip. We stayed two nights with Joe and Myrna at the Market Street Inn and loved every minute of our stay!! When you think of the word HOST, once you meet both Joe and Myrna, you realize what the true meaning of host is! Absolutely wonderful people!!! These are the type of people you want to be friends for life with, and wish you could turn back the clock of time and meet them earlier in life, so you can enjoy their friendship. If you love history or architecture OR both..then this place is a MUST stay for you. Combining the true friendship that Joe and Myrna surround you with during your stay. With the history and architecture of this BEAUTIFUL home. You will not find to many other B&B's that are even in the same category as this one. Beautiful home! Outstanding rooms! Great Breakfasts! Peaceful and Relaxing! AND amazing hosts! We will be going back again!!!

Thank you for coming to stay with us on your trip. As I recall this trip was the first time you had stayed in any B&B, let alone ours. You found that B&B's are like fingerprints, we are all different and function in different ways. We are glad that you liked ours and our service and offerings to you. As experienced travelers you know and understand the value you are receiving for your lodging expenditure. We certainly appreciate your taking the time to review our property and tell others of your experience with us. Please tell your friends to periodically check our website for specials. If they have not been to the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum, then this is the year to do it.

Had the opportunity to stay here while visiting family. First time staying here -- would definitely stay again!!! This is a lovely old family residence converted into a spacious bed & breakfast. Each room has a different theme, but each guest receives personal, impeccable service. Thank you so much, Myrna & Joe!!!

Room Tip: I didn't see any room other than ours, but the website gives you a pretty good idea. I'm su...

My nephew got married July 6, 2013 and I booked my stay with Joe and Myrna. They are very gracious hosts ! They have a beautiful bed and breakfast full of historical pieces. Joe and Myrna have a vast knowledge of all the historical sites around. My husband and I lived in Taylorville before his employment transferred us out of state. We always stated when we come back to Taylorville, Illinois, for a visit with family, we will book our stay with Joe and Myrna.

Thank you Joe and Myrna for making my stay feel at home in your home.

Maurita S.

Room Tip: Any and all rooms are remarkable !

We stayed at the Inn for our High School Reunion weekend in late September. It was our second visit to the Inn and my family also has stayed there when visiting our hometown. We travel the world and couldn't have been happier with the experience or the accomodations. The house is a treasure from the late 1800's and has been beautifully maintained and furnished. It is also very comfortable and Joe and Myrna provide extra touches to make you feel at home. They also treat you like family and provide a history on the house that is just the right amount of information. Any Myrna's breakfasts are incredible. If you are looking for a relaxing weekend, sipping wine on the big wrap around porch, a bike ride on a local trail, some pizza (made by a local Italian) on the town square (with a courthouse that could be in the movies), it is all waiting for you.

Room Tip: Chimney room is the best room in the house but many rooms are good

Joe and Myrna were very welcoming, and their inn is absolutely beautiful. Nice and quiet place to relax and spend time with loved ones.

While Taylorville was very small, Joe and Myrna pointed us in the direction of a nice steakhouse right down the street. My wife and I drove up to Springfield to visit the Lincoln Museum and Frank Lloyd Wright house, it was a quick 25 minute drive.

I would definitely recommend staying here; the rooms are spacious, beautiful, and well-kept. Breakfast was delicious and we even enjoyed some wine and chocolates on our arrival.

What a way to spend a night after cycling along wonderful and leafy Lincoln Praire Trail to Pana.
We were staying in Chimney room, a part of lovingly restored mansion with all amenities and reach in history. Myrna was fantastic, a real hostess. Everything about this B&B was perfect. Home away from home. Highly recommended.

Joe and Myrna are welcoming and the inn is charming, clean and comfortable. Service is personal and breakfast is wonderful. So many lovely surprises; gas fireplaces, refreshments readily available, jetted tub, Tempur-Pedic mattress. Everything was spotlessly clean and fresh smelling which is unusual for old inns. I can't imagine what could have been better!!

Room Tip: I stayed in the Rose room which was just one flight up stairs. Lovely decor and comfortable.
