The golden circle- whoever you do it with is a worthwhile trip in Iceland. It is hard to take in what the tectonic plates really are- they look like cliff but still cool to see. As waterfalls go Gullfloss is pretty impressive and finishing with a trip to the geysers tops it all off. The views of the landscape and watching strokkur erupt is not something I imagine you would get in too many places!! Would be important to try to get a good guide for background info.

this is a fabulous tour and well worth going on. we visited the national park and lake where the American Tetonic plate meets the Euroasian Tetonic plate first. Then we went onto Gullfoss Waterfall which is stunning then onto the geysers! This is amazing! It looks like something out of a sc-fi movie and when the main geyser erupts (which it does every 6 minutes) it is fantastic! Everyone was so quiet just waiting for it to erupt - brilliant!

This tour was fantastic from stop to stop. The mountains, the waterfalls, the streams, the hot springs, the glaciers- Iceland has such beautiful nature that spoils the eyes.
The only thing I think is to be careful with the tour company you book with. Our tour guide was fantastic, but our bus broke down for an hour and this rushed a couple stops. We also ended an hour early and it didn't seem we made up that time. That was Grey bus tours.
Other than that a must do!

We went with Reykjavik excursions. We were picked up promptly at our hotel. We chose the full day tour instead of the half day. It took about 90 minutes to get to our first stop which was a greenhouse. This is the only part of the tour i would question. You stop for about 30 mins but by this time most people require the loo and/or a hot drink. During this time a lady was talking about the workings of the greenhouse which most people missed whilst queuing for the facilities.
We then made a 20 mins journey to our next stop which was fantastic. The geysers are fantastic and it was snowing which added to the beauty. There is a little walk uphill to see the geysers and your stop allows time for lunch.
We then made a short trip to Gullfoss waterfall which is stunning. There is a little bit of walking involved and with recent snow it was a bit tricky underfoot. The view however is well worth it because it is stunning. There is a cafe here and gift shop.
The next stop is at the national park and quite a bit of walking involved. The park was snow covered and the scenery was beautiful. You can see the old parliament buildings. I found the tour guide informative and amusing.
If you only have time for 1 tour then i would recommend this one

It's a bus tour which is not typically our speed but in this country in the winter it's a relaxing option. The weather is freaky - hot , cold , windy , snowstorm, then rain, sprinkle in some hail and you just covered about 15 minutes. No joke. Roads are tricky just because of the crazy weather patterns.
Guides are entertaining but again you are on a tight schedule .
Tours leave in morning and at noon. We did noon , took 6 hours and we got back late because of the weather conditions & slept on bus because sun set at 4pm.
Recommend the earlier tour because you would be seeing more countryside and get more daylight .
