“Best Bed and Banquet in Sydney”
Reviewed February 3, 2014

Our Stay in Sydney was in a stylish paridise right in the inner city and Tara Guest house was our sanctury. We arrived and were welcomed by Brom and Julian into their home. The rooms are huge with stylish decor, egyptian cotton sheets, super comfy beds. We walked down Enmore rd past the Enmore Theatre and had a night out in Newtown (the cultural hub of Sydney) We were amazed by the breakfast, there was no expense spared. We then walked to the Marrickville Markets in the morning we couldnt eat anything there but managed to find some amazing items. I will never stay anywhere else and have already booked my next stay. Free pick up and drop off from the Airport made it so easy. Free WiFi was great i sat on the varanda through the french doors while my partner slept in and worked a little. Tara Guest House made our trip to Sydney truly unique, luxurious and relaxing. Cheers Rose and Kai

Room Tip: The rooms are just huge i really enjoy the downstairs

This was the most fantastic stay. Very warm and informative hosts. Breakfast is the best we've ever had. Three different types of sausages, dim sum, smoked salmon, muesli with different fruits and compotes, fantastic coffee. Their aim is to give you so much breakfast that you don't need lunch. Newtown is a very 'trendy' area, a great base to tour Sydney. We had a long & interesting conversations with other guests over breakfast encouraged by hosts Julian & Brom

We had a short weekend stay at Tara during the Sydney Festival. We're Sydneysiders, and often stay in the city or inner city on weekends.
We had planned a leisurely morning at the house on Sunday, knowing ahead of time about the fabulous breakfasts. Especially enjoyed the rhubarb compote ( recipe on the website as a blog), black pudding, brioche with ricotta and honey, and as many lattes as you want.
Downstairs bedroom and lounge adjoining - very spacious and surprisingly quiet despite our room being close to the road. Bed and linen very comfy and luxurious. That bedroom and shared bathroom will be renovated sometime soon, but it was just what we wanted and expected.
Easy bus trip to/ from the city.

We booked to stay at the Tara 8 months in advance to make sure we were staying in Sydney over the busy period. The dealings that we had prior to arrival with Brom and Julian were efficient and prompt, and we just knew we had made the right choice .
From the minute the very dashing Julian picked our family up at the airport to the minute he dropped us back we had the most amazing time and felt that we were part of their family .
Our room/s were beautiful and had the most amazing furniture in .The personal touches with the gorgeous breakfast kept us full until dinner .
The downstairs bathroom facilities that we used were great and found the shampoo / conditioners we were given handy so there was no need to take them in our luggage.
There is so much I can write about our experience at the Tara but until you stay there you could never appreciate the effort that Brom and Julian put into their business.
One day Brom took our boys swimming shorts off the line and popped them in our room . When we arrived back New Year's Eve late from the firework display there was a little note on our bed advising we could have a lie in as breakfast was going to be later than normal due to it being New Year's Day .
The garden was beautiful and had amazing plants ..... and as for Oscar ...my 13 year old cried from Sydney to Dubai because was missing him so much .
Please stay here in this beautiful house with these amazing people and enjoy what we did ( I have been a travel agent for 24 years and I am very fussy )

If you are looking for a nicely appointed place with thoughtful hosts to help you make the most of your time in Sydney, this is your best bet. Enmore is a bus ride away from downtown Sydney, but Julian and Brom helped orient us and point us towards the closest bus station to explore the city. They also gave us some great suggestions for making the most of our two days in Sydney.

While we initially thought being in Enmore would detract from our ability to see the city, we found commuting by bus very easy. We still saw most of downtown Sydney, as well as checking out Bondi Beach and other attractions mostly by bus.

The breakfast is also DELICIOUS!! We found our hosts well-accommodating and ready to offer tips on anything.

We certainly hope to someday return to Sydney, and if TARA Guest House have availability, it will be hard for us to consider staying elsewhere.

We ended up exploring much of the city by bus during our stay, and enjoyed also the conveniences of restaurants and shops a short walk away in the Enmore neighborhood.

We booked the Tara guesthouse initially for New Year's Eve 2010-2011, but were prevented from travelling from the UK by the bad Christmas weather. We had paid a deposit which, but didn't expect it to be held over for more than two years! However, on making an enquiry again for August 2013, Julian and Brom immediately reminded us that they held the deposit from before, which turned out to be enough to cover our three day stay.

Many thanks for that, and of course to echo all the other fab reviews of the guest house: the gargantuan brreakfasts, great location for trendy Enmore, wonferful period property, good company, not to mention the lift to the car hire office in King's Cross.

From the moment I was collected from the airport to the moment Julian came to my rescue after I had a fall in the City, my experience at Tara and with Julian and Brom was unforgettable! It was home from home from the minute I entered with Oscar wanting to play! I stayed in the Gallery upstairs and the downstairs room during my 4 night stay in November. The recommendations for walks and places to visit were spot on and the location of the guest house was fantastic with a bus route just 2 minutes away and the train a 10 minute walk from Tara. Julian and Brom provide a wonderful breakfast experience in an atmosphere where you are able to chat to fellow guests and share experiences which I found really interesting. I have already recommended Tara to a friend and I would not hesitate to stay there if I ever find myself in Sydney again! Thank you both, hope you had a great Christmas and Oscar is feeling better!
