My husband and myself and our son, his wife and infant daughter stayed there on Saturday 8th September for one night. We all thought the staff were really friendly and helpful and went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. The two ladies on Reception were particularly pleasant and one made sure my husband had a disabled room at short notice(my daughter-in-law only rang to ask about it on the afternoon we arrived as she had forgotten to mention it when booking) The young girl over at the Bell was also great next morning as she seemed to be doing everything on her own and didn't know how many people were actually coming for breakfast as guests are allowed to decide on the day. The room was comfortable and clean. The hotel is a bit off the beaten track but well worth seeking out. Thank you for a super stay.

It was fantastic to hear from you Catherine K!

Firstly we would like to say thank you very much for the feedback and that it has not gone unnoticed. We pride ourselves on trying to deliver that little bit extra here at Reading South and so we were all delighted to read that you appreciated any efforts that were made. As we are a small hotel we like to give each of our guests the feeling of individuality and total satisfaction with their stay and glad you were able to experience this first hand.

You are right to state in your review we are somewhat off the beaten track but totally agree we are worth seeking out. The tranquil setting of the Hotel and Pub in the countryside inspire and evoke a peaceful, happy and relaxed atmosphere that we see reflected in our guests’ smiles all day, thank you for the opportunity to give you the night you wanted.

We would love to see you again in the future for another stay at Reading South and for a meal at The Old Bell!

Yours Sincerely,
Premier Inn Reading South.

We stayed here in June, what they don't mention due to the fact it is in the country they have a septic tank! The stench that greeted us when we booked into our room was disgusting - the staff, after complaining put soda tablets in sink, bath and toilet but that relief only lasted a couple of hours. Room was clean and the usual standard of Premier Inn. The chef and brewer restaurant on the same site had a good menu however the food took so long to arrive and the staff did not inform us of the wait which was nearly 2hrs - by which time the children were past eating.

Stayed for one night over Reading Festival Weekend - gorgeous rural setting next to character country pub. The staff were really welcoming and anxious to ensure everything was to our satisfaction. Our teenage daughter received an equally warm welcome when she arrived from the festival- the staff asked her had she enjoyed herself? Who had she seen etc?
The room was a little cramped with four of us in it and the bathroom was definitely cosy but overall great value for money with superb staff.

Stayed at this Premier Inn for 3 nights last week whilst working in Theale. I use Premier Inns about 25 weeks of the year so have experienced a wide range of service and facilities. I have to say though, this particular location absolutely exeeded the service levels I have both enjoyed, and sorry to say been dasappointed with, at any other Premier Inn. The staff seemed so pleased to welcome you, you would think they were long lost family members who you had not seen for a number of years. The room was very clean, and like the whole hotel, in need of a make over, but the welcome more than made up for that. I am partially deaf in one ear, so when I turned on the television and turned the sound up to the pre-set maximum volume, I found that as it was set rather low, understandably so not as to annoy the other guests, I had trouble hearing it from the bed on the opposite side of the room. I went to reception and asked if anything could be done, and without question, and wearing a large happy smile, the young lad was more than happy to come straight up to the room and adjust the volume for me so that I could hear the TV without having to sit on the end of the bed.
The restaurant was very pleasing, and old world type pub, again very clean, and with happy smilling staff. I took a fancy to the chicken dish advertised on their specials board, but was unfortunately told that they had sold out of this, but again, the waitress was so friendly and would not stop saying sorry for not having it available, I was happy to just select another dish from the main menu. Spending so much time in Premier Inns, the down side is that the attached restaurants all seem to have the same menu, with just a few additions, or deductions, and the Table Table, Beefeater, and Brewers Fayre seem to keep the same menu forever with just a few slight changes, but the specials board in The Bell was a welcome addition. However, having stayed in a Premier Inn just two weeks before attached to a Chef and Brewer restaurant, as is the Bell, I asked at reception if there were any other restaurants locally so that I could vary my diet, and particularly as this Premier Inn is set along country lanes, and appears to be in the middle of nowhere. The kind lady behind reception gave me directions to a local Indian restaurant, which was superb. To sum up, I could not fault this hotel, and the staff, my only comment would be that the bath is very small, but they can't do anything about how it was built, the staff seem genuinly concerned that your stay is a pleasant one. If you are ever thinking of staying anywhere near Reading, dont look anywhere else, go straight to this Premier Inn.

We stayed here for 3 nights 31 July - 3 August so that we could visit Legoland and a friend who lives nearby. On arriving we were warmly welcomed by the ladies on reception who immediately engaged with our daughter. She has special needs and finds social situations difficult but she responded very well to them. The idea of hiding baby ducks in the room and getting prize if one was found was a brilliant idea. The room was very clean and comfortable - only one comment - more plug sockets needed. The ones that were there were behind the single bed and awkward to reach, otherwise fantastic. We had breakfast at The Old Bell all 3 mornings which set us up for the day and they were very accommodating, even making our daughter hot chocolate complete with whipped cream! We ate there 2 evenings and the food was OK although a bit more choice would have been nice.

We needed refrigeration for our daughter's medication and the hotel staff were happy to put this in their fridge for us which was brilliant. They made a point of chatting with our daughter about her day each time we went out and arrived back, they couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. We would definitely stay here again and recommend it to others.

We booked the Premier Inn to be close to Legoland and also as the price was reasonable. We found the reception staff friendly and welcoming. The children enjoyed the arrival as they had to find a little rubber duck hidden in our room, which they then exchanged for a lolly. Our room was clean and comfortable. The childrens beds had been made up and were placed either side of the main bed, which was a good size. The plug in the sink in our bathroom was stuck closed, which we reported. A member of staff came straight away and fixed the problem. Wifi could be accessed free for 30 mins, after which it would be charged. It was easy to access. We did not exceed our usage, so I don't know how easy/difficult it would be to pay for after. We had dinner in the pub opposite, which is linked to the hotel. The choice of food was good, although I wouldn't say it was the best food I'd had. We did not have breakfast there as we had made alternative arrangements. I would definitely consider staying there again.
