We were very disappointed and would highly recommend staying somewhere else. Bathroom had dirty floor with oil spilled on it, making it slippery - it also had a broken window blind and cobwebs hanging from ceiling. Bedroom also had cobwebs hanging from ceiling, dirty stained bed cover and old, dried-out cream cakes in the bedside cabinet, which had obviously been there for some time. Sheets were clean but bed had an old blanket - no duvet. Furniture was mis-matched and very worn and stained in bedroom . Table cloths and upholstered chairs in breakfast room were stained and wall next to table had food stains on it. Breakfast was individual packaged cereals and cooked breakfast choices, which were fine, but no fresh fruit. Gardens were very nice but fountain had green stagnant water. Very expensive (110 pounds per night) for a tired hotel seriously in need of a major renovation.

Me and my husband got married at The Mill House Hotel yesterday and it could not have been any more perfect and special! Kim and Mark were absolutly brilliant and all their staff couldnt do enough for you. They were so accomadating even for some of the last minute changes we have 2 days before the big day! They made it so personal and the venue looked absolutly beautiful. The food was 5* and all our guests commented on how good it all was!. The grounds were beautiful and made a very personal setting to have all our photos taken at. I couldnt recommend this place anymore even if you just wanted to come for dinner here its worth every penny! Thank you Kim and Mark and all the staff at The Mill House Hotel for making our day so so special. We will definatly be back to visit and bore you with all our wedding pictures! I rarely feel the need to comment on these sites however The Mill House has changed my view on this as credit where credit is due the reason we stayed at the Mill House is due to a house fire which meant us moving out for a few weeks after being moved a couple of times to different hotels we requested the Mill house and all i can say is this is a little Gem we were treated like kings and the kids were looked after so well i dont think they want to leave to go home nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff and put themselves out to accomodate us at every opportunity because of this Hotel and the staff made the whole traumatic incident go fairly smoothly the rooms are comfortable with everything you need and the restaurant has a well deserved Rosette awards which as the food was superb on every occasion we ate in there which unfortunatly wasnt as often as i would have liked. so would like to thank Kim, Mark, Steve, Anita (always cheers us up in the morning) Alex and Kevin the Chefs thank you and im sure we will return in the near future for food and a sunday lunch. We got engaged in April 2008 & by chance The Mill House open day was advertised for the following weekend. The moment we walked in we knew it was the venue for us. So much so that we didn't look at any other venues & put our deposit down the following month.
Kim & Mark the owners are lovely, very welcoming & reassuring. Jessica, the wedding co ordinator is also very helpful & friendly & always on the end of the line to answer endless questions.
They guided us through everything & made our day very special. The friendlly smiles as we all set off a little nervous down the aisle helped us along our way. Mark was in the background subtly but very effectively moving the day along.
I'm a cub leader & un be known to me the Cubs were to arrive & be waiting as we came out of the ceremony room but they got caught in traffic. Mark was brilliant & worked with the ever changing arrival time to fit their entrance in just at the right time. They also fitted dinner service round the surprise singing waiters! Nothing was too much trouble.
All our guests said what a lovely & welcoming venue it was too.
We had the best wedding day, it was all we hoped for & much much more thanks to the staff at Mill House. Sarah

Kim and Mark at the Mill House hosted a faultless and perfect wedding for us yesterday. The Gardens, Marquee, House, Food and Service were all five stars. The DJ supplied was also brilliant. They are flexible with your requiremnts and taylor the service to your needs

We would recommend anyone wanting a wedding location to have it here.

Portions of food for your guests are MASSIVE, service by staff is brilliant and attention to detail is awesome.

Everything was absolutely fine. The room was clean and fairly spacious. We had lunch, dinner and breakfast and all were very acceptable. There is a nice walk along the river straight from the hotel. Our dog did pick up something on the walk that we thought irritated her feet but after cleansing with water she soon recovered.
