Description: The Lucky Monk Restaurant and Brewery will celebrate its 8th Anniversary this December. Located at the intersection of 90 and Barrington Road, this family owned establishment serves up Prime Beef Burgers with Hand Cut Fries as its signature dish. Along with the juiciest burgers, you can find hand stretched pizzas and brew house favorites like street style taco and fish n’ chips for lunch and dinner! When you name your restaurant after Trappist monks who spent centuries perfecting the craft of beer making, you’re serious about your beer. Our Brew Master and Certified Cicerone, Anthony Carollo, constantly experiments with new seasonal beers in addition to brewing our classic ales and lagers in our 10-barrel brew house. You can also find local craft brews from Chicagoland favorite breweries on tap and an extensive bottled beer list that is full of handpicked favorites from the Brew Master himself.

We visited the Lucky Monk for a post graduation get together. We reserved a table for 12. As soon as we arrived they started putting tables together for us and the wait was minimal. Our server was attentive and knowledgeable about the food and beer portions of the menu. The beer flights came with 6 different beers with an explanation card about each beer. Most had burgers. I felt the burgers were a bit messy and the fries were salty. The beer was cold and good. We tried their sticky donuts for desert and they melted in your mouth. They also came with 3 different dipping sauces which were good. Overall, a positive experience.

We were very disappointed with the service. Our server, James, made it a point not to give a care about us. He literally threw the food down on the table. He made us feel unwanted. I think we aggravated him when there was a mess up with the food. The new menu supposedly has had its problems and the mac and cheese was not what it was supposed to be. After much to do they took it back and brought out a hamburger instead. Of course, no one was very nice about it. So probably never going back, too bad-the burgers are pretty good. This was our second time here, but never again.

My wife and I ate there on a Friday night. Since it was right across the street from the hotel we decided to give it a try. Glad we did!

Wifey had lobster bisque as an appetizer! Wow! We've have lobster bisque before in a lot of places on both coasts but never one as rich and flavorful as this one! I had the calamari which was cooked perfectly with a nice light batter.

For dinner we both had fish and chips. Again another winner, A generous portion of cod, perfectly battered and fried. French fries were perfectly cooked. Very tasty! Plus props for having malt vinegar that made my English heritage happy, happy!

You’ll leave with a doggie bag. The burgers are huge and served on a porcelain riser to enhance their size. It was OK. The food choices were mostly pub foods. The prices are a tad too high but normal for that neighborhood.

This place will exceed your expectations if you are a fan of; 1) Great Beer 2) Great Burgers. My favorite is an IPA complemented with their bourbon burger on a pretzel bun with Cheese Curds. It is an awesome combination. The service here is incredible and the price is reasonable. You wont be disappointed.
