My sister and I stayed at the Flagg Farmstead and had a wonderful stay. Doug and Rosalie are wonderful friendly people. They made our stay quite nice. The house is decorated beautifully and tasteful for the period it was built. No detail was missing. The breakfast was great and tasted great. The house has charm and a great history behind it. I recommend this place to anyone who's looking for a nice place. Quiet and the view is like none other. Our family is from Illinois and this was our first visit to the Flagg Farmstead.

Our card club (4 couples who like to travel the Midwest) found this gem through the Tripadvisor web site. It was our first time staying at a B&B, and we couldn't have been more pleased.
We decided to see the Lincoln sites in Springfield, and as I researched places for our group to stay ---someone gave me the idea of staying at a B&B.
From the moment we drove onto the property we felt like family.
This place has real charm--completely decorated with period furniture, and all the modern conveniences.
Our host really knew the history of the Inn, and to be honest it seemed like an extension of our Lincoln visit. They offered great advise for places to eat, and even called and made our reservations.
Like I said our group was 4 couples, but this would make a great place to re-ignite an old flame. Sitting on the front porch swing under the great old trees I really felt relaxed.
I hope to add some pictures of our stay ---you really have to see this place.
Our group is still talking about the fantastic breakfast ---it was like something from a gourmet restaurant....

As soon as we drove up to the Flagg Homestead, we already knew that we made the perfect choice for our getaway. The owners were wonderful and fun to visit with. Learning the history of the home was so interesting and the decor there is wonderful. We could set out on the front porch in the evenings and it was so quiet and peaceful. What a way to relax and forget our everyday stresses. The breakfast in the morning was another fantastic addition to our stay. Everything was fresh, hot and so good. The owners were great at making us feel right at home and were very helpful finding a place to go for supper and also making sure everything was comfortable.
We will definitely go back again!

Flagg Farmstead is the perfect place to stay if you're traveling to Springfield, Illinois to see the Abe Lincoln Museum and other sites. It surpassed our expectations in every way. Only about a 15-minute drive from downtown Springfield, the B&B is an 1870s Italianate mansion that has been beautifully and tastefully restored and decorated by the current owners. We were the only guests when we were there in mid week, so the owner gave us a brief tour of the three guestrooms in addition to our own. Each room was gorgeously decorated in a different color scheme and furnished with a tasteful sprinkling of antiques (but not overdone) and nice touches, like silky throws and pretty nightlights. Our bed was luxurious and comfortable. The house has wide plank floors and the oversized windows, 10'-plus ceilings, curved staircase and other architectural details you only find in great old homes. The bathroom had been remodeled but was done in vintage style. The couple who own the property were friendly, helpful and respectful of our privacy. The property, surrounded by mature trees, is located across the road from a huge field facing west, so you can watch the sunset. Breakfast was delicious--blueberry waffles and bacon, fruit and homemade granola, juice and coffee. All around, a delightful surprise! Highly recommended.
