This was our first stay at a B&B and Doug and Rosalie set the bar very high. The home, breakfast, and setting were all great and Doug and Rosalie's service was awesome. Will definitely stay again if our travels take us back to the Springfield.

Doug and Rosalie Polite have done a fantastic job maintaining and renovating this house into a great bed and breakfast. The house is almost as charming as the Polites! The rooms are great and the food was wonderful. Great location to all the Lincoln site-seeing you want to do.

We were thrilled to stay at the Flagg Farmstead Bed & Breakfast, which was built by my Great-Great-Grandfather, Cornelius Flagg. Doug and Rose are gracious hosts. They shared all they knew about the history of the house and even connected me with a Flagg relative I had never met. I appreciate their loving care and restoration of my ancestral home and their effort to learn all they can about the man who built it. Even if you aren't a Flagg, you will love visiting! The house is beautiful, the hosts welcoming, and the breakfast, delicious.

Three "pretty" women arrived in Illinois to have the pleasure of spending two nights at this special bed and breakfast. We did not have reservations and after our stay were quite surprised the home was available. The proprietors, Doug and Rosalie were both delightful and helpful. The breakfasts Rosalie prepared and served by Doug were delicious. Rosalie's culinary skills were beyond what I would have imagined. For those who travel without their four legged friends, Izzy is available to provide some temporary relief. She is an exceptional little gal who is a pleasure to hold and pet. Our rooms were comfortable, clean, and the entire home, as well as the grounds, are so inviting. Flagg Farmstead Bed and Breakfast is rated by me, a 10 out of 10!

My husband and I stayed at The Flagg Farmstead for our 27th anniversary. We are adding this place to our "favorites" in our memory book. Lovely grounds. Peaceful and beautiful with gardens and sprawling lawn. Our room was gorgeous and so quiet. The breakfast was so elegant and fresh. We have been to alot of bed and breakfasts and this one tops the list. We are already talking about going back. We are 100% satisfied with our stay and highly recommend staying there.

My wife and I stayed at the Flagg Farmstead B &B on July 7, 2013- wish we could have stayed longer. Wonderful place, wonderful proprietors, wonderful breakfast. Rooms were great, just as advertised on the website. Grounds and gardens area serene, and the history as related by Doug and Rosalie was tremendous. Close to Springfield IL where we were going to revel in more history ! We will be back and will recommend it to friends and family! Oh yes, cannot forget the " official greeter" Isabelle the schnoodle, what a sweet pup !

My husband and I recently stayed at the Flagg Farmstead for three nights. On arrival we were welcomed by Doug who gave us the grand tour and settled us in and from the beginning it was obvious that Doug was a very easy-going and helpful person. We met Rosalie the next day and she was also a lovely person and was very conscious of making herself available to assist with whatever we needed. The mansion itself is absolutely stunning. We stayed in the Lincoln Room and it was very well set out with a comfortable bed and large windows that let in a lot of natural light which made the room feel light and airy. We had a great view of the front garden and a side view of the large trees and occasional squirrel or chipmunk that may run across the lawn outside. It was also lovely to wake to the sound of birds chirping in the mornings instead of police sirens or traffic sounds and breakfast each morning was fantastic. Rosalie is a wonderful cook. Doug and Rosalie also have a third "helper", their four year old Schnauzer x Poodle, Isabelle ("Izzy") who was just gorgeous. She was so cute and playful. I left something in our room when we were checking out and Izzy raced me up the stairs and even though she hadn't spent any time in our room while we were there she immediately knew which room we were staying in and sat at the door and waited for me to come inside. She was a little darling and a real highlight of our stay. The Flagg Farmstead was a close drive to all amenities, particularly to Springfield (about a 15 minute drive, if that) where we visited on a couple of occasions and saw the Lincoln Museum and Library, the Lincoln Historic Home Site and the Lincoln Tomb among other things. If you're hungry or need to go shopping there are heaps of restaurant options as well as Walmart and many other shops. We also drove to a town called Arthur (just over an hour's drive from Sherman) where there is a small Amish community and lots of quaint little gift shops. We spent a day sightseeing in Arthur which was very interesting. I would highly recommend the Flagg Farmstead if you're visiting the area. We couldn't fault it and would have no hesitation in staying there again the next time we're out that way.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Lincoln Room which was beautiful but all the rooms were lovely.
