Motel 6 Chicago O'Hare - Schiller Park
Ranked #6 of 9 Hotels in Schiller Park
Reviewed October 9, 2007

If all motel 6's around this country would operate like this one, then most 5 stars hotels would be out of business.

This motel 6 is located at the village of Schiller Park. It is surounded by a number of nice houses, apartment complex, and local businesses. The area is very safe and gives you a "home-like" feeling.
The motel itself is in a very good condition and the rooms are clean. The hotel people are not rude but also not friendly. I would grade them with C-.

Dining is a problem in this place. I good choice could be the Bacci pizza restaurant a quarter of mile from the hotel. Of course you can try the suggestionsof the other revious but if you dream a nice steak served with cold beer in a nice place then forget it. There is nothing in walking distance! However, a 7 eleven, gas station and Dunkin Dounuts is almost in the same block with the motel.
You may feel some noise from the airplanes (not serious noise). The motel is along a flying path of landing airoplanes to o'hare.

The big advance of this motel is that it is close to rosemont CTA metro station. Its a 20 minute walk (1.4 mile). Hence, you don't need to depend on your car.

In summary, this motel does the trick. Its good and cheap. (with tax $62). So why not save some extra money and stay there? You will not regret it.

Disadvantage: This motel 6 shows how it underestimates the mind of its customers (maybe it expects to get only low IQ customers): In the rooms they have a big sheet of paper giving suggestions what people should do to save energy (for example turn off the light when they are away). In the same time, however, when I entered the room for the first time the A/C was already on. Additionally when I left the room the next day and came back late in the night the A/C was again on. We spent one night here and found it quite acceptable for two adults and a young child. Checking in was quick and trouble-free, the sheets were clean, the beds were comfortably firm, and the carpet was clean. On top of that, the heater had been turned on before we arrived, which was a nice touch. There are no tacky paintings on the wall, the fan in the bathroom functioned, and the TV worked. The heater was a bit loud, but this Motel 6 certainly did the trick for clean and basic accomodations at a very reasonable price.

My family and I stayed at the Motel 6 in Mid July. We had agreat time. We booked our reservation online, and when we arrived everything was set. The room was clean, bathroom was fully stocked. The Television worked and had a good picture quality. The motel is located right next to a Denny's and they had excellant service, so much that we had breakfast and dinner there. I had a great stay and will go back! Its only about 25 minutes outside of Chicago. My only recommendation is to gas up around this city because downtown Chicago has very few gas stations.

They have clean rooms that get sprayed with very strong deodorants that may be annoying to many. Staff aint helpful with typical chicago style attitude. The location is near the O'Hare airport and I 90. Parking is free. There is a Denny's restaurants located nearby.

1. Illinois road 50 is not a highway: It is Cicero Blvd. (very bad part of town). I went through the entire thing.

2. I got lost and called the motel and got absolutely no help from the unhappy woman at the front desk.

3. Hours later after finding the place I got the same lady who rides from Taxi to Train To another Taxi to get to work everyday of her life, and it costs her about 40 bucks just to get to work. She did not even want to talk to me about getting downtown.

4. I bought a map, went downtown (10/ hour for parking), however, the mexican parade happened that day (I knew because I went through Cicero) and when I went to get my car they were closing downtown down because of violence (luckily I got there to get my car).

5. I headed back to the motel (stopped at a convenience store on the way) and lost my personal keys. I didn't realize this until I got back to the motel and had "one hell of a time" finding that same convenience store in Chicago.

6. I finally got back to the motel, walked across the street to get some beer where the mexicans had the music full blast and were typical Chicago rude people.

7. Went to sleep and woke so I could ask for a refund for the second night and drove home.

An alright motel, but a horrible city.
