This hotel was wonderful. The hotel staff at the desk, in all of the restaurants and meeting rooms were absolutely the best. So very helpful and kind. The food is fabulous. I wish I had more time to stay there. The convention center is beautiful and very easy to get around. The hotel is ultra modern and although that is not necessarily my taste, it was done beautifully. I would definitely recommend and I will be going back for a vacation.

I enjoyed my stay at the Renaissance Schaumberg for a medical convention. The convention center itself is quite impressive, with comfortable rooms and good food. The interior decor of the hotel also was quite nice, with a modern look, albeit somewhat sterile.

A couple of things stood out - the flat-screen TVs in each room with HD service was very nice. Rooms were well-appointed with extremely comfortable beds, very little noise, and a bathroom that was just awesome (a built-in TV inside the mirror, heated section to prevent fog, good toiletries, etc). The cleaning personnel came by early and did a great job. Nice 7-8 foot windows gave a good view of Chicago in the distance. The swimming pool was very nice although somewhat chilly, and the exercise rooms seemed to have everything you needed to stay in shape. Both the lunch areas, Starbucks, and Sam & Harry's were excellent.

There was one major, major drawback about the Renaissance. In this quality of a hotel, and in the year 2008, paying $14.95 / day for internet access was absolutley ludicrous. Granted, there was a business center with $0.25 per minute, but inside your room, it was a complete waste to have such a nice business station that went unused. I called the front desk (who were all very helpful) to see if this internet pricing was actually NOT a joke, and it turns out that they were serious. Guys, paying this much for a room and providing an absolute fleecing when it comes to simple hi-speed internet is a major drawback to this hotel. My suggestions would be to make the service complimentary, or at least charge $1-2 per day built into the cost of the room. I can find complimentary hi-speed internet at the Howard Johnson, much less a 4+ star hotel that's rated the best in the city.

Other than that, the complimentary shuttle service was decent, although somewhat unreliable when only 1 of the 2 shuttles ran full-time. I do commend the hotel for providing this service, but at this price and with this reputation, this type of amenity (as with the internet) should be expected. I am no hotel afficionado and rarely travel, but come on guys.

Nice hotel, very nice touches, but a travesty when it comes to simple things like internet service.

I had the opportunity to stay at the Renaissance Hotel on June 8- 9 when I was stranded at O'Hare Airport. I arrived in Chicago at 8:30pm, having missed my connecting flight due to delays, and after 3 hours in line to reach the Customer Service desk, I found that the next flight out was at 6:30 the following evening. The Renaissance Hotel was on the list of hotels referred by the airline (with a $99 discounted rate). I took a cab from the airport for a flat rate of $30, and arrived at the Renaissance. The hotel was absolutely beautiful. If you've ever been stranded without luggage, any toiletries are much appreciated, and the Renaissance very graciously provided everything that I needed. They even agreed to extend my check-out until 3 pm, so that I would spend as little time at the airport as possible. The room was modern, and spotless, and the television that was built into the bathroom mirror was unbelievable! The bathroom mirror even has a fogless "rectangle" that allows you to see yourself clearly even after a shower! The hotel shuttle graciously drove me to the mall at no charge (free within a 3 mile radius) to purchase a cell phone charger, and waited for me while I ran in to pick it up. The work area in the hotel is functional and comfortable, and I was able to spend most of the day on my computer. Everyone was extremely kind and gracious, from the shuttle bus driver, to the doorman who ran out in the rain to get a taxi at the $30 rate that I was willing to pay. The Renaissance managed to turn what started out as a nightmare, into a very luxurious 24 hour stay. Kudos for excellent service, beautiful decor, and amenities galore!

We had a wonderfully romantic weekend at the Renaissance. Literally one of the best hotels I stayed at for this price range. Rooms were very clean and contemporary. Comfortable beds as well. Any time we come to Schaumburg we will definitely stay here. The only draw back was wifi was like $15 a day, and no wifi in the lobby without paying either. Get the breakfast package though. For $20 a day more you get a full breakfast buffet for two. It sounds like a lot but some of the best food I have eaten. Made to order omelets, french toast, waffles, and anything else you can think of asking for. Our bill said $35 w/o the package, so it is a deal. Can you tell we liked it?

This past weekend I had to help my brother drive to Minnesota for an internship and we stayed at the Renaissance for one night on our way there.

The rooms were well maintained, spacious and the hotel decor was contemporary. The hotel's primary dining place, Sam and Harry's had great food and service; and the hotel staff was friendly and accommodating.

I wouldn't necessarily recommend this if you are trying to see Chicago because it's a little off of the city center. But if you are a business traveler, or you are just in town briefly and need a place to stay, I would definitely recommend this.

When I came up to the hotel, I expected just another business hotel with lots of meeting rooms. This facility is two years old, but actually the rooms still smell new! Rooms have wonderful technology, including a flat screen TV mounted in the bathroom mirrors, and nice flat screen TVs in the rooms. In-room Internet service was excellent. You're kind of in the middle of nowhere, stranded on the hotel property unless you have a car. But if you're there for a business meeting, it's hard to think of another facility that has such a wide range of room sizes and many areas in its wide hallways and lobbies to sit and meet privately with colleagues.

After reading reviews on TA, decided to select this hotel for our shopping venture at IKEA. We were not disappointed in the least. In fact, we were skeptical weather the Midwest could live up to a standard of high service, especially in a city that can have a "care less" attitude. The staff and service of this hotel is beyond compare. Everyone, and I mean everyone here is genuinely concerned about your stay. They offer real conversation, not just small talk, and proudly represent their fine upscale neighborhood. They know they are the premier hotel in the area, but refuse to put on airs. They know what is expected of them and they live up to and beyond it without snootiness. Now that is Midwestern hospitality at its finest.

The hotel is easy to find for it seems to be one of the tallest buildings in the suburb and is located off a major drive that leads to everything. The outer construction of the drive up is impressive and the entrance is simply stunning. One wonders how you stepped into a Bjork music video in the middle of Midwest - very modern but not overbearing. The music playing is noticeable, top forty without the immature tomfoolery music. The lobby is an impressive six stories (maybe more) high with the convention center rooms on the walk-in level and the front desk, restaurants, and lobby bar just an escalator or elevator ride to the 2nd level. Rooms start on the third level, however the third level seemed to be at least four (or more) stories high and at least two stories above the front desk/entertainment level which you look down upon from your room door. Above a certain level the hotel is normal hotel tower with walkways and no view from the hall, but I did not explore that. Fountains abound on the entertainment level. The common areas were immaculate.

Our brief one night stay included a gorgeous room with beautiful furniture. A cool blue theme suggested a "welcome and relax" message that was welcome after the break neck speeds of they highways below. Although there is not much to see except the suburb, other buildings, and Interstate 90, from the silence of the room and the occupied rooms next to us, soundproofing and room ambiance were of the utmost importance in the design of this hotel. The room was laid out in Marriott's well thought through design, and a couple of extras, like a TV built into the fogless bathroom mirror with all the cable offerings, and a comfy chaise lounge chair (also in the cool blue), and true high definition and sound separate the Renaissance from the pack of wannabe luxury hotels.

Housekeeping in our room was average, clean, but some more attention to some details would have given this area a five rating. Our room guide was very dusty as were some other surfaces as if the room had not been used in a week, and the tub shower curtain was worn and some threads hanging from it. However, everything worked and the roomed smelled clean and fresh as did the sheets and pillows.

I actually found the room service to actually be reasonable in price compared to what I could expect in an upscale establishment like this. A full American breakfast with two eggs, choice of bread, coffee, juice, breakfast meat, and potatoes was $17 plus service charge, tax, and gratuity. Other items were reasonably priced. The breakfast is fast, tasty, and hot and I highly recommend it to get your day going. However, there are many restaurants in Schaumburg for an upscale breakfast.

All in all, I highly recommend this place if you want to spend some good money for a great hotel while making a trip to IKEA or shopping in any of Schaumburg's fabulous shopping district.
