“Excellent Customer Service and Comfort!”
Reviewed January 3, 2008

I was in Chicago for a business meeting, but the Renaissance Schaumburg was booked (unfortunately). Also unfortunately, we got put at the nearby Marriott Schaumburg instead. The Marriott was a dreadful hotel, but the Renaissance - which was where our business event was taking place - was top-notch in customer service. Not only did they step in and provide a shuttle to us (picking us up from our hotel, who would not shuttle us, and then providing a return ride), but they handled making arrangements for us on the last day of the event back to the airport. Everyone we dealt with at the Renaissance was extremely professional, friendly, courteous and customer-focused. The hotel itself is divine and the rooms looked to be spacious, clean, comfortable and clearly provided many "extra's." We definitely plan to stay here any time we are in Chicago!

This was my second stay at the Renaissance and I consider it the best deal in town. The service was exceptional, rooms very clean, very comfortable beds, and current technology. The fitness center and pool are very nice, clean, and well maintained. Very close to Woodfield Mall and good restaurants. This is a great hotel for business, couple get-aways, and weekend pampering. I would not recommend for families w/small children. The only negative, for me, is the distance from parking area to hotel. On most accounts, it's a relatively short walk.; but in November/December, it can be a bone chilling experience. This is my hotel of choice whenever I return to the Chicago area!

Would not return. Would not recommend.
After reading so many great reviews about this place, I was excited for our group to stay here. To my dismay . . . . .
Manager was not responsive to the poor service his staff other than providing lip service and a canned mailed letter.
Front desk staff was rude and not service oriented.
When we were leaving on Sunday morning, we attempted to park our vehicle close to the building rather than the 5 minute walk for 10 minutes to load our luggage and we were told we could not. 2 children's library books were left in our room when we departed. The hotel would not reimburse us the $15 in fees for lost books for books that dissapeared in their hotel.
Loud music blaring in courtyard of hotel for some odd reason.

Stayed with this hotel recently. I liked the decor inside the room and outside.

Access: From airport it costs around $35( $50 off hours) to get to this hotel.

Registration: on the second floor. easy to check in. Courteous staff.

Room:

Plus: Spacious room with large clean windows. Comfortable bed and other standard things. Highlight is a TV in the bathroom mirror. Good for morning update while you shave and :-)
There is a small refrigerator and safety box inside the room
Minus: 1) if you arrive after midnight, there is nothing to eat on the property. There is no microwave, no vending machine. I am not sure why. It is common sense to have a pantry at such a big facility. 2) free breakfast - only if you are an elite member ( 50 nights per year ) 3) house keeping: average ( they just fix your bed and bathroom, nothing else. I even found dirty stuff from previous guest. 4) internet access costs $14.95 5) business center access is for elite members only ( did not try ).

Overall, good place to stay if you plan to eat outside everyday and not use anything else. I expect better facilities for business travel for $209 a night.

I live only a few miles away, but decided to stay at the Renaissance this past weekend, after seeing so many beautiful photos and reading all of the excellent reviews. It is one of the more beautiful, modern, elegant, and stylish hotels I've ever stayed at, and I was really bowled over and impressed by most everything about it! The room was excellent, with a large high def TV in the main room and a cute 13 inch built into the bathroom mirror, and the furnishings were very comfortable. I could see the expressways from my 15th floor window, but it was very well sound-proofed ... very quiet and conducive for getting a great night's sleep.

Although quite expensive (and I was aware it would be), my steak dinner at Sam and Harry's was one of the best I've ever had ... so good, I did it all over again the next night ,and I really enjoyed it both times! The restaurant was very elegant, scenic, and relaxing too.

About the only thing I would change would be to have much warmer water in the swimming pool ... it's much larger than what you'd find in most hotels, but it was very hard to warm up in there (as most others in the area kept saying). I definitely plan on being back, so I hope they'll heat it more in the near future. Other than that, I loved everything else about the Renaissance, and the staff was very friendly, courteous, and helpful.

  • Liked — Everything was excellent!
  • Disliked — No complaints, but would like to have warmer water temp in swimming pool

My wife and I recently stayed at this hotel before leaving on an anniversary trip to Italy, and LOVED nearly every aspect of our brief stay. The hotel is easy to spot from the highway, but a bit difficult to track down from the side roads you mst take to get there. However, the search is more than rewarded by this beautiful property.

Among the MANY positives:
-Very friendly check-in. Fst and efficient, with a welcome gift for Marriott Reward members.
-Amazingly beautiful lobby area with low-lying fountains, a Starbucks, plush furniture, space to spread out, cool artwork, and lots of marble!
-Rooms feature comfortable beds, chaise lounges, mini-fridges, in-room safes, thick walls for sound-proofing, great amenities and hi-def televisions
-One of the most innovative features I've EVER seen in a motel room. The huge bathroom mirror actually has a 13-inch television built INTO the mirror!!!!! Not a free-standing bathroom tv, but part of the mirror actually becomes a tv screen.
-Restaurant, though over-priced, features unique sofa-style seating and a truly excellent breakfast buffet that turns breakfast into an upscale eating experience.
-Full wall windows that, depending on your floor and which way you're facing, can offer some impressive views.
-Great jogging park about 2-3 miles away that features a 7.7-mile loop for fitness buffs.
-Very nice athletic club, featuring treadmills and bikes with built-in tv's, a nice hot tub and full-length 25-meter swimming pool.

A few suggestions to make a grand hotel even a bit better and more customer friendly:
-Bathrobes were suprisingly left out of what seemed an easy decision to commit to upscale travelers
-No saunas?!?!
-Why do upscale hotels need to zap people with a $14.95 a day charge to use the internet, when Red Roof Inn, Hampton Inn and virtually every downscale motel provides this service for free? Very greedy and disappointing!!!!!

However, with all of this said, it comes down to the plain and simple fact that this motel is a gem for business travelers and couples alike. If they could simply cross a couple more t's with customer-service this would be one of my all-time favorites in the Chicago area.

  • Liked — ambience and bathroom tv's
  • Disliked — 15 dollar a day internet!!

This hotel is top notch in every way. It is in a great location in Schaumburg. The hotel is lancaped very well, and the grounds were well manicured. The lobby is pristine and the employees are professional and courteous. The rooms are spacious, modern and clean. The television is flat screen, and in the bathroom, there is a small television built in the "no fog" mirror. The workout facility was excellent for a hotel with a few treadmills, elypticals and stationary bicycles. All the exercise machines had their own TV and headphones. The facility is in a busy area, however the road noise was never heard in the room.

  • Liked — The spacious rooms with the TV in the mirror
  • Disliked — An occasional sewer smell
