“ABSOLUTELY LOVE this hotel!”
Reviewed July 30, 2011

This hotel is absolutely wonderful! It's in a suburb of Chicago. It's ~40 minutes from Chicago w/o traffic and up to an hour (hopefully not more!) with traffic. But this place is absolutely gorgeous, modern, and clean. You walk into a beautiful foyer that immediately has this lovely floral pleasant scent (I'm usually not a big fan of smelling flowers, but this place smells AWESOME). Everywhere throughout the hotel, things are very visually appealing and intriguing. The customer service is phenomenal - very attentive, smiley, and accommodating. Nice friendly bartenders. The suites are very pretty, modern, clean, and well-kept with TVs reflecting through the bathroom mirrors and everything! :) Comfy beds. We didn't have an awesome view of anything in particular - but what do you expect for the location? It's still an awesome room. Excellent for conferences, events, and weddings. Marriott points apply. :) Would definitely stay here again and again if I ever had to be in the area! This summer at least (2011) if you stay 2 nights over a weekend and pay with an American Express card, it's $89.50/night! Excellent deal :) It's the AmEx Summer Promotions deal or something like that. Take advantage!

Great rooms, meeting rooms & public facilities. But for pete's sake, what is with the $14.95 daily ding for wireless in the rooms? Catch up. That is important to business travellers.

Let me start by saying that I absolutely hated this hotel. There was no excuse for the dismal service provided by this hotel, which advertises itself as one of the nicer properties in the Chicago suburbs. We stayed one night to celebrate my wife's birthday. We brought the kids, so we needed connecting rooms. I wanted to reserve a suite with a connecting room. I was required to speak with Bruce, the Group Housing Coordinator - you cannot reserve a suite through the regular reservation process. I want to send a special shout out to Bruce for not returning my messages and for completely misleading me with respect to his description of the suite. When I fonally got in touch with Bruce, I told him what I was looking for and he explained that the Concierge Suite was available and would perfectly fit my needs for the weekend. He explained that the suite was on the concierge level where we could get treats in the afternoon for my kids and continental breakfast in the morning in the concierge lounge. We took the suite based on his description. Thanks Bruce. You should know that the concierge lounge is closed on the weekend. Also, the concierge suite is designed for group meetings. There is a queen size Murphy bed and only one television by the bed. There are several seating areas clearly designed for groups to sit and talk - no television and not very comfortable. I would give the hotel one star based on horrible customer service, but the bathroom was nice, so I'll give it another star. Check-in was a mess. The connecting room was not released to us until 5 pm. I asked a manager to call me and I never received a call. I was not impressed with this property and I would not recommend it. There are much bette roptions in Schaumburg that are even closer to Woodfield.

I stayed for a couple of nights on business. Arrived late with no issues and helpful staff to great me. The reception staff remained helpful throughout.

The bed was excellent and helped me adjust to the times.

Pool and Gym facilities were nice.

Only downside was odd layout meant that noise travelled up from the bar to the room.

Overall, very good.

Thanks

The Renaissance is a phenomenal hotel. The rooms are spacious and comfortable with HDTV, nice coffee and tea offerings, Aveda bath products, and an amazing shower. The pool and gym are nice as well. The service of the staff is impeccable and unsurpassed.

Very nice clean updated hotel. Staff very pleasant and helpful. Have no complaints really. Close to Woodfield Mall. Kids loved the pool and the TV in the bathroom. Begged to stay another night.

I stayed at the Renaissance Schaumburg for two nights for work. It is among the best hotels I've stayed in for work. It is modern, the rooms are comfortable and nicely appointed and the room is designed with the business traveler in mind. I appreciated all the outlets in strategic places. Thank you for the complimentary bottle of water in the room. It is so nice to not have to drink tap from a hotel. And, the turn down service was a real treat. It's something you so rarely see for work travel.

The hotel really has it down for big conference meetings. Check-in/check-out was a breeze. Great hotel staff all around. It was a disappointment to not be able to get a king bed but the front desk staff upgraded me to the concierge level. That made up for it in spades. The lounge on concierge level is really nice and has wonderful breakfast on Sunday as well as snacks in the evening.

The bathrooms are upgraded and while the tv-in-mirror is a little strange, it was nice to be able to listen to the news while I was getting ready in the mornings. My one recommendation would be to improve the wine selection.

Overall, this hotel was fabulous. Wonderful entrance with lovely fragrances. I'll be back next year for this conference and will be looking forward to my stay with you then.
