“Love this hotel”

My husband and I stay at this hotel 1 or 2 times a year. It has always been very clean, the staff is nice, beds are very comfortable, the breakfast is great. The atmosphere is terrific. I would highly recommend. Some postings have stated that their rooms or the halls smell of smoke. I have never found this to be the case. I'll be back again.

  • Liked — The atmosphere, comfortable bed
  • Disliked — I can't think of anything! like my stay each time I go there

We book a 5 night stay at this hotel. We checked into the hotel. We had requested a non smoking rooms but there are smoking rooms in the same hallway. So unfortuantely you can smell the smoke in your room. The rooms were some what dark and kind of old fashioned hotel. It was a ok place. So we decided to check out the next morning and go elsewhere. I spent a little bit more and had so much of a nicer place. I guess you get what you pay for.

We stayed at the hotel for 4 nights. We loved it! It was awesome. The breakfast in the morning is great-- fruit, bagels, donuts, pastries, biscuits, eggs, sausage, waffles (plus more). Our daughters loved the cookies and milk at night (plenty of cookies). We were only able to attend one of the evening receptions but we were very impressed. They had already made subs, crackers/cheese, fruit, chips, snack mix, roast beef, etc... The hotel itself is very clean. Our room was just as described. The housekeeping was superb. The pool area/hot tub was nice. The hotel is only about 15 minutes from the Schaumberg train station so we took the train into Chicago each day (traffic was horrible due to construction)--the train ride was only 50 minutes. We purchased the gochicago card -- if you are going to be in Chicago on vacation we would definately recommend it! It allows you to by-pass the lines at the major attractions (Sears tower, Shedd's Aguarium, John Hancock, Science Museum etc.) plus it gives you unlimited on-off rides on the grey line trolleys (don't take the free trolleys that are offered on the weekend--the lines and wait are horrible). and discounts are various stores/restaurants. We had a great time in Chicago and plan to go back!

  • Liked — Very clean. Awesome breakfast buffet included. Great location.

Queen size beds were the biggest draw for our family...not always easy to find in hotel chains. But we were very impressed with other aspects of our stay as well. First of all, the rooms, etc were very clean and nicely maintained. A refrigerator and microwave are always appreciated as well. The breakfast buffet was plentiful....waffles, sausage and biscuits, pastries, cereals, scrambled eggs, fruit, yogurt.

  • Liked — Queen size beds
  • Disliked — being charged extra for an extra towel

I decided to stay here for a week last month. After checking in and getting the extremely worst customer service I checked out after 2 days. The rooms were very tiny. The rooms smelled like smoke because the smoking rooms are by the non smoking. The carpet in the hotel looks really old and dirty. I checked into the Wyndham Hotel next door and man was a upgrade a better price. I wouldn't belive everything people say. Hope this helps if your checking out hotels in the area.

Due to family reasons, we travel to Schaumburg area three four times a year. Previously we stayed in various hotels, depending on which deal was better (we shop and compare from priceline, expedia, etc.). After reading tripadvisor's review, we decided to give this hotel a try -- god, we are so glad we did.

-Location: convenient to all attractions, no complains
-Room: nicely arranged with microwave oven and small frige. Great bedding (down comforter).
-Breakfast: lots of choices. Eggs, ham, gravy, bread, 4 juices...The hostress is working so hard to make sure all trays are full and everyone gets his/her dish filled
-Afternoon tea, heard good things about it, we did not try since we were out at that time.
-Evening reception: you can try 3 differnt kinds of wines, or beers or sodas, with tons of snacks. We almost skipped dinner. We actually love the wine (Liberty Creek of California), but you can get the beers if you want.
-Turn-down services: they come to your room and offer coffee or chocolate and stuff.
-Nice gathering room with sofa in front of the fireplace. There are CDs, books and games you can check out for free.

Anyway, best place to stay with price less than $100.

My wife and I stayed here in 2004 on a trip with my parents, who had an adjacent room. Our stay then was very pleasant and my parents were impressed with the location.

In late-January 2007, we had an occasion to return to the area with a friend and chose this hotel. Check-in was quick and the room was clean and very spacious, as we had remembered from last time. The king bed my wife and I had was very comfortable, but our friend said the pull-out sofa bed was only "alright," but not any worse than your average pull-out sofa bed. She was also slightly disappointed that there wasn't more than just a sheet and a single blanket available for the sofa bed, but she also didn't think it warranted us asking if an extra blanket or comforter was available.

The continental breakfast was great and included scrambled eggs, biscuits & gravy and sausages. Both mornings we were there, all three of us filled up on the breakfast before our daily activities. Our friend made several positive comments about the breakfast.

The pool and hot tub were also nice and helped cap off a day of shopping and sightseeing. The pool was a bit on the smaller side, but was definately adequate. The hot tub was marvelous and we almost hated to head back to our room.

The only other downside was that the card readers on the two end doors (not the main entrance) both malfunctioned on the day we checked out and wouldn't let me back in while trying to pack the car. Being January in Chicagoland, it was snowing and the wind was really blowing hard that morning. I had to pull the car to the front and wait for others to vacate the overhang since the end doors weren't working correctly. The card readers may have been malfunctioning due to the winter storm, but it's something to watch out for.

In all, the Country Inn & Suites in Schaumburg will continue to be the first place we check out when staying in the area!

  • Liked — Great location; spacious and clean rooms; wonderful breakfast
  • Disliked — Cardreaders on end doorways malfunctioned during checkout
