I didn't have overly high expectations after reading the reviews and am very glad I had done my research. The play areas are ok and the rides are ok. The 4D movie we saw was pretty entertaining. Our kids enjoyed themselves just because it was Lego and something different to do, but I don't think they will be asking to go back again. Even the store was disappointing with the selection of items they offered. Fortunately we arrived just as the school groups were leaving (around 2 PM). The Lego Friends area is an embarrassment. The picture on the map make it look huge and all it provides is an area with pink Legos to play with. Only one sink in the women's bathroom was working and only one soap dispenser was filled. The small number of lockers they provide are not adequate for visitors with winter coats in Illinois! They were full and we were forced to lug our jackets around with us the whole time.
I am so glad we had Buy-one-Get-one coupons. Paying full price for the visit would have been miserable!
I will say that the Lego displays are very impressive. However, most kids won't really stop long enough to enjoy the artistry. They just want to get on to the next thing.
