“Wonderful views, excellent value”
Reviewed July 20, 2011

We stayed in a NE facing 2-bedroom apartment for five nights in mid-winter. Beautiful balcony gave us expansive views of the Gold Coast, the Runaway Bay Marina and the boating activity on Broadwater. The apartment we had, on the 8th floor, was tastefully fitted out and had everything we expected (except hairdryer).
No negatives at all, so relaxing.

Note: We stayed for 5 nights in the older 'Villa' apartments on the road side of the property, not in the more modern high-rise apartments that are on the Broadwater.

Pros:
- Two good sized pools available for use
- 2 bedroom villa was spacious and had 2 bathrooms
- General location was good - away from bustle of Surfer's Paradise, close to broadwater for walking / running / playgrounds, close to shopping centre / supermarket.

Cons:
- No air-conditioning in the villa as was advertised on the Broadwater Shores website. This was an essential requirement for me, so I was hugely disappointed when the Manager told me that none of the Villa accommodation has air-conditioning. There was a ceiling fan in the lounge and in the main bedroom, but not in the second bedroom, which was not pleasant for our two kids.

- The room / villa smelled like it had been closed up for several weeks. As a result the bed linen smelled musty and we had to rewash it ourselves before sleeping in it. The room should have been aired for a couple of days before our arrival as well as fresh linen put on all the beds around the same time. There was a disgusting smell under the kitchen sink where the rubbish ('garbage' for our American friends) is kept.

- As the bedrooms are by the road / driveway, the bedroom windows need to be double glazed, as the road noise was constant and at times extremely loud. Our kids were woken up most days by noisy vehicles.

- Finally, there is no in-room internet / Wi-fi available. This is very poor in this day and age. I was able to use the manager's Wi-fi for free, but had to sit in the corridor outside his room to get a strong enough signal.

Say no more! Don't be fooled by the promos on the Last Minute Websites. We booked a two bedroom unit, three adults and a child and were given an absolute dog! The curtains didn't close. The water ran cold after 4 minutes .. (1 shower for an apartment accommodating four guests ..) cigarette butts all over the deck .. key swipes wouldn't work .. the stairwell smelt like rotting carpet .. You had to unlock the door to get out but anyone could come up the stairs .. security and safety are not paramount. There were no mattress protectors on any of the beds ... cold spa for three days ...in short disgusting ..

Stayed here recently in a two bedroomed apartment with a coast view.

The apartments were easy to find just over the bridge from the main coastal road and we had a lovely two bedroomed apartment with a view of the Gold Coast skyline and the water.

The apartment was clean and spacious. It had a great sized balcony, living area, kitchen and one double bedroom with ensuite and another twin room and a bathroom. The only downside was that my friend complained the twin room single beds were not that comfrtable.

The apartment complex has a nice sized pool , a little on the chilly side! and a BBQ area and also under ground parking for those that need it.

Very good value when 4 of you are staying at the accomodation as it seems a lot at first but when you divide it down it isnt so bad. It is on the quieter side of the Gold Coast which we liked but if you are looking for accomodation being near to the night life then these apartments are not for you.

The apartments are right near to the water so I was able to run along the path by the water each day which was also a plus for me. There is also a shopping centre about 1k away. It's in a perfect location if you want to go to all the theme parks which we did.

My only other comment is that there was no WIFI or internet access which i struggled with.
