We stayed here to take advantage of the Raving Waves package. That includes, 4 tickets to the park, 1 parking pass, 4 tube rentals, 2 ice cream bars for the kids and a little shovel and bucket. It was a pretty good deal for the price. Most of the staff were quite friendly and helpful, really no complaints there. After spending the day at the park, which is a good 10 to minutes away we came back and got our room. It was a double queen room. It was clean and suited our purpose so we unpacked and went down to the restaurant for dinner. The food selection and price is on par with other similar hotels. I would have eaten somewhere else but we were tired, it was close, and there's really not much else around the area. The food was pretty good, but if I return, I'll look elsewhere since the selection was limited. The kids were looking forward to going in the pool, but upon examination of the, lets say less than desireable crowd, we decided to wait until the morning. Once we got upstairs a band had started playing in the restaurant/bar. Our room was directly above it, and it was very loud. No way we were staying in that room for the night, so I went down to the desk to ask for another. They offered me a queen suite, which had one bed and a pullout couch, which was fine, although quite inconvenient. The kids were already settled in and in their pajamas and we had to pack up and go upstairs at 10 pm. As we moved the music resonating through the first and second floors was ridiculous. Way, way too loud for a hotel. Funny thing is, the crowd in the bar couldn't have been more than 15 people yet they thought that blasting out the rest of the hotel was acceptable. I disagree strongly, tone it down for the benefit of the rest
of the guests and perhaps when you know there is a family with children staying in your hotel, maybe put them in a quieter room that isn't directly above the bar. We slept good, beds were comfortable, got up and went for a swim. The pool was warm and clean. We then went to the free breakfast at 9am. By that time there wasn't much left as some guests felt that 4 or 5 trips back to the food line was acceptable. I walked over the front desk and asked if they would be replenishing the food. She said that breakfast was winding down. I told her I didn't really care and that the cook had better start winding up the grill. If you advertise breakfast until 10, then have breakfast until 10. To her defense she did go talk to the food person who was in the process of bringing out more food. Once again, not bad for a free breakfast, but nothing I'd pay for either. We packed up and headed home. Overall it's a decent hotel, clean and the staff seemed fairly helpful. Just a few minor issues that were resolved. It's your average hotel so don't expect too much and you'll leave satisfied.
