“It was like staying at your own family home”
Reviewed January 2, 2015 for a stay in December 2014

The house, location and most importantly the owner are simply brilliant!

The house is nicely furnished and practical. The log stoves are lovely. Wooden flooring makes it easy to manage. Nice and cosy living room where the whole family can sit together and plan what to do for the day. The kitchen is well equipped. Everything that you need, and more. The owner thoughtfully place a pack of milk in the fridge, a bottle of wine and biscuit on arrival, which my teenage daughters munched through in 5 mins! Small touches make this house special. Instead of just stove, pots and pans, the owners made available basic cooking stuff like olive oil, pepper, soy, salt etc. Instead of just a washing machine, the owner made available detergent.

The location is very nice. Only 5 mins ride from Bath. It is next to a beautiful canal, which we enjoyed walking alongside. Ducks and geese, and boats run and up and down the canal.

The owner communicates professionally and responded to any query promptly. My daughter accidentally left her wallet on our last day. She only realised it as we were about to reach the airport. The owner texted me to inform that he had found a wallet, which he kindly arranged for delivery across the world to Malaysia where we are from. It arrived today, and my daughter is relieved that she got back her ID card and driving licence before she goes back to school next week.

We reached home with fond memories of our stay at Canal View. Thank you to the owner for letting us stay at your lovely house.

“Well presented flat in a great location”

We found this place last minute having been let down by another rental. What a find!

It is in a lovely little village, in a lovely setting and was really well presented and clean.

We were two couples with 3 young kids and there was plenty of space. The wood burners made a nice touch though not really necessary as the flat was lovely and warm.

The local pub was good, and the kids enjoyed feeding the ducks and swans on the canal and watching the barges coming and going. We walked into Bath along the canal one day, which took a while with the kids but was a lovely stroll. We got a cab back as it started getting dark and we were all tired - it was only about £11 for an 8 seater, and 10 mins if that. We also spent a day in Bristol which I would recommend for the kids, particularly the science museum.

This place offers great value for money. Stop searching and book this place!!

“Perfect for a family stay”

We had a great stay in Paul's house by the canal. It's comfortable, well equipped, quiet, and spacious. Paul provided a comprehensive information pack, some handy advice, and was a pleasure to deal with.
Location wise the house is a few minutes drive from Bath, or a good walk/bike. We enjoyed just taking a walk along the canal, enjoying looking at the different canal boats and wildlife. On the opposite side of the canal is The George pub which serves food from a comprehensive menu (easy to find something for the kids), and the quality of the food and beer is fine. We absolutely would stay again, and recommend this to others.

Canal View was everything we hoped it would be. The place was extremely clean, well kept and stocked with everything you need for a vacation home. Paul was great to work with. The pub near by was a great place to grab an afternoon beverage and relax. Would highly recommend and will definitely stay next time we are in the Bath area.

“Perfect for our family of six”
Reviewed June 11, 2014 for a stay in June 2014

We spent three nights here, and absolutely loved everything about it. Paul and Christina were so prompt and helpful in the booking process, even though it was last minute. They gave us some great advice about places to eat, local transportation and places to visit.

The key safe was genius, it gave us great flexibility with our arrival time. The place was immaculate and it was a treat to find fresh flowers and a welcoming basket waiting for us! The fireplaces were all laid with kindling and wood, and as it was rainy and cold when we came, we loved lighting a cosy fire. Our kids (ages 15, 13, 10 and 8) loved the selection of games, puzzles and books, and I found the kitchen to be well equipped, perfect for meals in. The flat is finished to a high standard, and the garden was beautiful. The kids LOVED feeding the ducks in the canal. We all really enjoyed the canal walk into town to visit the Roman Bath Museum and the Abbey, and were able to visit Stonehenge, Avesbury and Steeple Ashton (for family history) another day. We stopped at Langleat on our way there, and Tinturn Abbey on the day we left. It was a good balance of fun excursions and relaxation at Canal View.

I have no constructive criticism—our stay couldn't have been better. We'd love to return for a longer visit someday! Thanks again Paul & Christina!

The apartment was very clean and well equipped. 2 good sized bedrooms as well as the sleeping area in the lounge which we did not need but would have been very useful if you wanted to sleep 6 in the apartment. The location is great and meant we could walk into Bath itself or out into the country alongside the canal. The small local shop is great if you have left anything behind or need a quick bit of shopping. There is the regular bus service into Bath and if you don't mind a 15 minute walk you can get a boat back to the Mill on the river. The George is literally 2 minutes away over the canal and we found the food and the service very good. Paul and Christina were great hosts - anyone who leaves me a bottle of wine is always off to a good start!
