“Great food”
Reviewed September 9, 2013

Although we are resident in the village this was our first visit and how we missed out ! This was a very busy Saturday night and they had 2 big parties plus al tables were taken. They coped efficiently and the service was relaxed but certainly not slow .The food was excellent ,all our starters were judged as very good and my scallops in particular were beautifully cooked and presented . In a busy kitchen its very over or undercook and the fact that they were perfectly cooked shows attention to detail . The main courses were similarly impressive with portions sizes just right. I had the grouse which was both tender and tasty ,flavoursome but not too strong presented with red cabbage and game chips which complimented the little bird a treat. There was just room to share a cheese platter and round off an excellent night out. Its not cheap so expect to pay £40+ a head with a bottle of wine but if they maintain this standard then its worth the fee. My only minor criticism is that some of the waitresses perhaps need to be a bit more proactive - a customer should not have to ask for the wine list or after waiting patiently then have to ask for a drinks order to be taken from a gaggle of waitresses standing chatting round the bar.

“Just Excellent!”
Reviewed September 5, 2013

Ive eaten here several times since The Lime Tree opened a year ago and it just gets better and better. The food in impeccable, the service efficient unfussy and friendly. The interior is spacious, stripped back, up cycled and contemporary. The garden is a sunny hidden gem. The emphasis is on market fresh and locally sourced.
This is fast becoming a favourite place for us to go for a full three course meal, just a snack and a drink, or sunday brunch.
We always start with the freshly cooked cheese straws and dips which we cant resist. Recent meals have featured a wonderfully crispy and fresh Tempura Prawns and Squid with a sticky sweet and spicy hot dressing. A tasty and super Fresh Port Colman Crab Salad with a bloody mary Dressing; a delicious plate of Asparagus with Goats Cheese and roasted red peppers; some amazing Hand Dived Scallops, cooked to perfection -- (crispy on the outside and soft and creamy inside) with a pea shoot salad and sweet chilly dressing.
Mains are also a joy with wonderfully fresh Hake cooked perfectly with shrimp butter sauce; a slow cooked and sumptious confit of duck leg with dauphinoise, a flavoursome Lamb Shank and accompanying veg : a sticky pork belly with dark juices, crisp on the outside and sticky and delicously soft to the bit. All the food was fresh and delicious and the accompanying veg was tempered to each dish perfectly. We couldnt resist the deep fried courgettes as an extra which are a firm favourite.
The deserts are really very very good. A perfectly caramelised creme brullee, a deliciously almondy Bakewell Tart topped with icing and dribbled with cherry sauce, some lovely Homemade ices, and a gorgoeus vanilla cheescke with perfect vanilla flavour and sweet biscuity base.
The wine list is well rounded and well priced with many wines chosen from small suppliers.
If you haven't visited yet youre missing out!
The Lime Tree ticks all th boxes! Its an excellent place to visit for lunch or dinner, or just a glass of wine and those lovely cheese straws !

“Lunch Party Success”
Reviewed August 26, 2013

Usually we go as a couple but this time we booked Sunday lunch for a family occasion. Eight people, including two children aged 6 and 3, took part so we made the arrangement on a visit the previous week. Booking was made easy and when we turned up everything had been prepared. As the day turned out to be sunny and warm we asked to move our party outside and the tables were set up immediately and with a good grace! The children were well catered for with the well-thought out children's menu whilst the adults had no difficulty choosing a very varied list of dishes. Throughout the meal the service by the manageress and the waiting staff was exemplary - friendly and efficient - and the food was delicious. Nothing was too much trouble. There was a very pleasant ambience and we were never rushed (though to be fair the restaurant was only half full). The Lime Tree is now a firm favourite!

“Great food, great value”
Reviewed August 10, 2013

Our party of 5 (including a 5 year old) went for an early dinner and ordered the adults meals from the 'early bird' menu (£14 for two courses, £16 for three). The food was excellent and staff were friendly and efficient. Must try and visit again for brunch as the menu looks inviting.

My mum and I ate here last Tuesday after seeing it's reviews on this website. My meal was delicious - lamb shank, and the service was great. Lovely atmosphere. Would definitely visit again.
