Although we are resident in the village this was our first visit and how we missed out ! This was a very busy Saturday night and they had 2 big parties plus al tables were taken. They coped efficiently and the service was relaxed but certainly not slow .The food was excellent ,all our starters were judged as very good and my scallops in particular were beautifully cooked and presented . In a busy kitchen its very over or undercook and the fact that they were perfectly cooked shows attention to detail . The main courses were similarly impressive with portions sizes just right. I had the grouse which was both tender and tasty ,flavoursome but not too strong presented with red cabbage and game chips which complimented the little bird a treat. There was just room to share a cheese platter and round off an excellent night out. Its not cheap so expect to pay £40+ a head with a bottle of wine but if they maintain this standard then its worth the fee. My only minor criticism is that some of the waitresses perhaps need to be a bit more proactive - a customer should not have to ask for the wine list or after waiting patiently then have to ask for a drinks order to be taken from a gaggle of waitresses standing chatting round the bar.
