Don't bypass this cottage! Tucked away from the main road a beautiful well maintained haven lies. We stayed for two nights and after an initial daunting journey from London we arrived to a great welcome from Chloe and Adam (and from the friendly four legged friends who were very gentle with the kids) and felt so relaxed from that moment, it was hard to leave. Everything was thought about in great detail, all (and I mean ALL) things we needed for a toddler and baby were there for our use. No need to pack the kitchen sink...toys, books, DVD's, toilet seat and step, crayons, games, a really cool toddler car bed and a travel cot for the baby...what else..snugly towels, kids plates, cups, cutlery, high chair...just literally everything that made it a home from home...not forgetting the Hot tub which really sealed the deal, moonlit relaxing under the starry sky while sipping bubbles, can't fault this stay in any way. Lots of helpful info and directions/recommendations provided for where we wanted to go. All in all, the best bank holiday surprise retreat ever.
Recently stayed 2 nights in the Garden Cottage as an introduction to the area. This historic little cottage has been thoughtfully refurbished. Within easy walking distance are the Coalport China Museum and the Woodbridge Inn, a really great pub/restaurant. We ended up eating there both days, looking out on the river. Ironbridge is a walk or short drive along the river.
Chloe and Adam were welcoming but not intrusive and although the cottage is attached to the main house, we never felt over-looked. The woodland garden was fun to explore. We will certainly be back to try the fishing (you can buy a day or weekend licence from a local pub) and golf (one set of clubs available in cottage), which are both on the doorstep.
