We live in the area and have visited PR for several occasions, including a wedding on the premises. The whole place needs upgrading. This trip we stayed in the Gulf tower, which was much nicer (and closer to everything) than the courtyards. The last time we stayed in the courtyards, in the summer of 2010, there was a 'wet towel' smell in the halls and the room was small.

The indoor pool is nice but the hot tub, the only one on the premises, is small. Also, the indoor pool is closed during buffet times (at least half the time it is open). On the Sunday we were checking out, the indoor/outdoor pool was closed for maintenance and the indoor pool was about to close for Sunday brunch. I agree the striped towels are horrible, small, scratchy things. On Sunday morning there were thicker, nicer towels.

The Bourbon Street area is really cute, but could stand to add another bar and/or stay open later.

We attended Zanie's and it was very cramped, the chairs felt right on top of each other and you have to walk up a flight of spiral stairs to get in. I have a broken foot, with a walking boot, so it was a good thing I could walk as I am not sure this is handicap accessible with an elevator.

The outside bonfire area is great, but would be nice if it were open later than 11 pm on a Saturday night.

We had dinner and brunch in the garden atrium. The food was mostly good, lots of offerings, but nothing out of this world. The desserts were delicious though.

This place is great for a short weekend getaway for couples, or families as there are kid friendly activities throughout the day. It is unlike anything in the area with it's offerings of so much entertainment in one place. We will return, but do hope to see some remodeling happening in the future.

Room Tip: Gulf tower rooms are much nicer and bigger. Only certain floors have ice machines though - 7,9 &...

Stayed there for four nights when attending a conference. The weather did not play along and the rain kept us mostly indoors other than for 12 holes of golf one morning. Full marks to the golf pro and his team who went out of their way to assist and make the golf game memorable. Nothing was too much for them. The resort itself feels isolated with few shops and restaurants close by.i did not have a car and therefore could not pop out for an hour or so. There are restaurants on site which were busy with other conference attendees so I did Not use them. Enjoyed the food at the conference and from room service. The room was dated but clean but leaked badly around the window frame due to the heavy rains and flooding while I was there. At the rate I was charged I got value for money"

We live in the Chicago area and decided to take a one-night mini-vacation with the kids to Pheasant Run. Our room, 2 double beds, was very nice, well decorated and clean. Included desk and 2 chairs. Good quality bedding and pillows. The TV service, however, was awful: $15.99 to rent a movie and very little free TV for the kids. Also, old TVs that our DVD player can't plug into. The place was quiet during the night eventhough it was over run with kids during the day (they were hosting a dance competition that weekend.)

We didn't eat in either of the 2 sit-down restaurants for dinner. Instead, we had reasonable quality burgers and sandwiches from the snack bar. We did have buffet breakfast in the atrium, which was fabulous. Omlette station and freshly made waffles. Very good service.

The two pools are small but nice. The indoor/outdoor pool is fun especially when it's cold outside. The pool towels are awful -- tiny little scratchy things. Both pools were warm, but the whole facility was a bit chilly (although it was unseasonably cold the night we were there).

The whole place looks pretty and well maintained. Fireplaces and couches of good quality throughout. Overally, it was a nice trip and we'd go back.

This place is well past it's prime. it might have been ok 40 years ago. Most of the rooms look like they were designed to be entered from outside, but a new hallway was created after the fact. Thus, your window view is to the hallway. I had a flat screen TV but I heard this is an upgrade to the tube TV in most of the other rooms. My tub didn't drain, so I would stand mid ankle deep in dirty water - luckily I was there by myself.

Housekeeping kept all of their baskets and supplies in the hallway (for most of the day) and kept crates of bathroom supplies on the furniture in the sitting area! What a mess! I don't know what they were thinking! I almost took a picture because I couldn't believe it.

The terrace restaurant I visited on property was not good and you are 5 miles away from anything else.

The connectivity in the 'mega center' was terrible!!

The staff was very nice and I hear the golf course is also nice.

I paid $129 for my room and that might have been a little over-priced. If you are a local and wand an in-door pool for the little kids to play in, then this might be an to place to try.

Room Tip: I hear the tower rooms are nicer than the others.

If you are looking for an easy getaway close to the city, pheasant run is the place. You never have to leave the comfort of the hotel! Great nachos! Ben and Jerry ice cream. Stuff for the kids to do. Lots if pools. Classy and relaxing at the same time. And the staff will go out of their way for you every time! We truly didn't want to leave! Every time we leave we are already thinking of our next stay!

With a family of five getting older and not wanting to share beds, it can be tough to find options where we can all stay together without renting two rooms. This was a nice two-level suite with a large sitting area in the lower level (perfect for a family Monopoly game) with a pull-out sofa and room for a fold-away bed. Upstairs in a loft area is the master bed, and then in another small room, a sitting area with another pull-out sofa. We did not check out many options on the property, except for the Ben & Jerry's shop - that was yummy. The pools had a lot of activity though. The open loft meant night-time snoring affected more of us! The room entrance was actually up one level, without an elevator - not so nice with suitcases, etc. This was our first visit to St. Charles; we enjoyed walking along the Fox River, etc... We did not eat at the property (except for the ice cream). I agree with a previous reviewer that some of the property feels dated.

We saw a show in St Charles and stayed one night. I would hardly call it a "resort", more like a state park lodge if you travel back in time 50 years. Old, smelly, dirty, and outdated. I felt like it should have been an episode of Restaurant and Hotel Impossible. The staff was polite enough, but the housekeeping service should be fired. Dirt everywhere and smelled like a nursing home with your Grandmothers rose perfume to try to cover it. The bathroom "amenities" were awful, worse than dollar store-tissues and toilet paper like sandpaper.

We ate the buffet on Sunday and it was quite possibly the worst ever, and cost $30 per person

Do yourself a favor and stay at one of the newer hotels on 64! If it was $59/night maybe, but not $160!
