Overall not a bad place if your not overly particular. I would rate this property 2 stars out of 5. I booked my 3-night stay through Priceline - the property accepted a $50 per night bid approx 3 weeks in advance of our stay. The property advertises a $79 starting rate which in my opinion is all it's worth. There are other hotels in the area that are newer and much nicer for not much more. I would stay at this property again only if I could get it for $50 per night.

Room Tip: I recommend a king size bed.

When they ran out of coffee at 6:30 people started to act nuts. A hotel full of guests acting crazy. My six year old learned the s word. They ran out of eggs, biscuits, and apples. The room smelled like mold. The air conditioner was the issue there. They also had a VERY imapropreite show playing in the lobby when we checked in at 9 pm. A cartoon so my son really wanted to watch. Plus no elevator and a second floor room.

Holiday Inn Express in St. Charles is a good choice for travelers to the Fox Valley. Older property that has had some renovations. Entering the hotel, you have a modern lobby with two areas for comfortable seating. Breakfast area has about 6 tables, hot choices, cold cereals, juices, fresh fruit, and USA Today newspapers. No elevator, but only two floors. Front desk staff really go out of their way to welcome you and give you a room type that fits your preferences. Nightly rates are reasonable and fairly low for the area. Location is within a few miles of some of St. Charles' best eateries including Taste of Himalayas, Olive Garden, Gino's East (deep dish pizza; across street from hotel), Bosa Donuts, and Portillo's (hot dogs, burgers, fries, shakes). Plenty of parking. Beds are comfortable. On Route 64 and close to Route 25, Route 31, and Kirk Road.

A no-frills hotel and a value price. The coolest thing about my stay was the pancake machine in the breakfast bar. I have seen plenty of waffle makers but this was my first pancake maker. Tried it and the pancakes were not bad. Not as good as mom's but edible. The room was a typical room. The bed was a bit lumpy and not that comfortable. The room had a flat screen tv but did not have any high def channels so the tv picture took up only about 70% of the screen.

I have been in much nicer hotels, but for the price this one met my expectations. If you are looking for a low cost hotel in the St Charles area, I recommend this one.

Room Tip: Value hotel. Clean, no frills

The daytime crew was super.....the night time guy ...not so much. This is an older but nicely updated hotel. Kind of like a comfortable pair of jeans. The daytime staff (terry?) was excellent. Great location for restaraunts etc. I will stay there again when schedule permits. A little different from the sterile newer HI. Reasonable price and value received for dollars spent.
I found the bed to be very comfy and the room to be exceptionally clean. I have no negatives for this Inn. Breakfast was standard fare and I found the surroundings to be clean.

Everything else was great but if you value your sleep and cannot sleep on a mushy mattress, then you might want to try another place. Our family of 4 all tossed and turned all night due to soft, worn out mattresses. It was a horrible night sleep. The only bright side was they have an awesome outdoor pool and it was great at night for our group.

Room Tip: You might want to ask if they have a room with firm mattresses.

Stayed here for Corvette show, not our first choice but they had rooms available so that was great. Check in went smooth after front desk agent changed our rooms to King N/S per our reservation. Very busy weekend in St. Charles and staff was friendly with fresh cookies at check in. No towels in room and were delivered hot from dryer within 30 min.s . Room very clean. Bed not very comfy. Room not dark in morning with bright sunlight streaming in around curtains. Noisy room across the hall but happily noise drowned out by loud a/c unit. Did not eat included breakfast. Did not use pool. Free parking and could see vette from window of room. Ate at Francesca's by the River for dinner, very nice and great food. Ate at The Office outside for breakfast, food okay, stick to burgers.
