I had breakfast for lunch at the Randall Road restaurant, and ordered the Pineapple Upside Down Pancakes. They were served piping hot and tasting like the cake right out of the oven. "Amazing", doesn't even come close to describing them. I also enjoyed strawberry lemonade made with real strawberries. The service was very good, as well. When I declined a refill on the lemonade, the server said to let her know if I wanted one to go. If there is any criticism at all, it is that she didn't stop back to see if I wanted to take her up on that offer and was not within view as I was getting ready to leave.

I've already told a number of family members and friends about the unique pancakes!

Sandy,

Thank you for taking the time to review us. I'm glad you enjoyed our Seasonal Pineapple Upside Down Pancakes! They are one of my favorites as well. We hope to see you again soon and would suggest trying our Stuffed Very Berry French toast or Banana Fosters Pancakes next time you visit.

Thank you,

This restaurant is a real gem. The staff meet you with smiles and first class hospitality. The service is quick and accurate. Viki looked after us and explained the menu making excellent suggestions. The scrambled eggs were perfect, the hot oatmeal with dried cranberries and bananas was the best I've had in years. The tea was hot and didn't taste of coffee. The pineapple chicken salad was a real treat. Very clean and we are sure to return when back in town.

We are regulars at both St Charles locations. Breakfasts are consistently good meals and great value. Lunches and dinners are good diner fare with emphasis on burgers, meatloaf, chicken and fish entrees. Soups change daily but could use more variety to allow for customers with allergy issues. That said, the staff is more than willing to try and accommodate special requests. Be sure to save room for ice cream! Colonial started out as a dairy over 100 years ago and their ice cream specialties are worth a special trip to any of their cafes!

We went to their newer store on Randall Rd. The Guacamole was very good but the fried chips had grease dripping off of them. Not a good choice for us but others might like chips that way. My wife had a Panini that was also greasy. They now serve beer and wine which is a plus and ice cream is the best in the area by far. One other big turn off was that we had a coupon to use and gave it to our server who brought our check to table with 18% gratuity already added. We always tip for the full check amount before the coupon discount so the server is not hurt by the discount. We usually give the server the discount plus because they work hard for their money so I had the manager increase the tip. I just feel that is a slap in the face to a customer and will have to think twice before we go back.

After a long day working with a friend, we enjoyed delicious food at this café/ice cream restaurant. Hot soup and tasty sandwiches were perfect. The super-cold outside kept us from trying any ice cream, but their selections looked yummy.
