“Stands out amid a great pub town”
Reviewed March 23, 2012

St. Charles has more than its fair share of pubs. This place has character. Much larger than it appears from the street. Big enough so that if a band is playing you can still find a spot to actually have a conversation. Also, this joint covers all age groups. You won't feel out of place whether you're 21 or 45.

“Once again, Great Service and Food with good conversation”
Reviewed March 22, 2012

Okay, we, our family could not decide between The Beehive Restaurant and Alley 64 which sit right next door to each other in downtown St. Charles, IL, on the west side of the Fox River. I even had a restaurant.com coupon for the Beehive but we were lured by the Alley 64 large outdoor deck in the beautiful and strange Chicago March weather, and our past great experiences at Alley 64. We found a table on the deck then immediately the cigarette smoke from the bar patrons found us! (Isn't there a law...?) So we moved inside, where Rita, our attractive, attentive, and easy going server escorted us to our new table of choice for the 4 of us. After they found the hot dogs in the kitchen, we had a delightful dinner with very good tasting food with favorable portion sizes and chilled beverages which were re-filled timely and graciously by Rita, the server. Thank you again Alley 64 and Rita !!

“Once again, my short simple snack and beverages were served 'above expectations'”
Reviewed August 4, 2011

Okay...it was supposed to be a quick and short "cool off" break and snack while ride my bike. Sabrina, the excellent server / bartender, and very easy person to relate with as a customer, quite simply, kept me at Alley 64 longer by her professionalism, serving skills, and light conversation. Thank you Sabrina M. on that hot and humid Tuesday afternoon in early August! You made by day, other than the much older gentleman I spoke to that I checked to make sure he was alive in his garage around the corner from the restaurant! The quesadillas were delicious and filling as were the beverages Sabrina created for me.

“Decent bar.”

Decent bar food. Service is below average. Back patio is really great. Still one of the better bars in Town.

“Great Place to Camp at the Bar”
Reviewed October 15, 2010

Had read a few reviews about less than attentive servers. On my first trip, I did not experience this, but on the return trip felt as though there was a vast desert between the bartender and my buddy and me. Bartenders were physically talented, but did not seem all that interested in selling drinks that day. If not for our own weariness from other adventures, and the we would have tapped out to somewhere else after nearly begging for a second beer. Physical attributes aside, the bartenders need to know that they are there to sell booze, and they could have at least doubled sales with us (and others) had they not been pre-occupied with their own "union meeting" or whatever they were up to that was not slinging drinks.

Although we have not used it, the outside area looks like a good place to be in decent weather.

Food is decent bar food.
