“Great value.”
Reviewed September 4, 2012

Booked on Hotwire for $67 on Saturday night of Labor Day weekend! Awesome value. Great beds, bathrooms, and atmosphere. Definitely worthy of 4.5 star rating. Will be back. Only note is $34 parking that wasn't expecting being in suburb rather than downtown. I would be comfortable spending up to $200 per night here to get best value.

Room Tip: Ask for room that's not next to elevators and ice machine. Ours was but no issues after 9 pm. Ha...

Large, clean comfortable room. Helpful staff. Regular shuttle from airport (but not from the International terminal). Food seems a bit expensive by the time you add service and taxes to the prices but was of fairly good standard.

we booked this hotel on hotwire and it lived up to it's 4.5 star rating. new nice rooms very quiet. great gym with lots of equipment. very nice location easy access to lots of restaurants and the cta. we are a young couple so the entertainment district which is new is just a mile away and lots of nice bars and clubs. If you choose to drive to downtown it's not bad at all. we were very happy with the hotel.

Dear Guest,
Thank for choosing to stay with us. Yes, the CTA time from our hotel to downtown is less than 40 minutes, so we agree that our location can be very beneficial for guests who want the option to save on travel time and taxi expense to/from O'Hare.
We hope to welcome you back very soon.

Regards,

This hotel is very modern with several restaurants and other nice hotels within walking distance. The first thing I noticed about the room and after housekeeping was in the room was that it smelled good. (I loved that.) The bed was comfortable and the shower is the rainfall type which my husband and I love. The service we received from all at the hotel was great. The drawbacks in my opinion included the airplanes loud overhead at all hours (which is to be expected in the O'Hare area), the toilet paper in the room was one-ply and the parking was about $24 a day.

Overall, a good stay at the Intercontinental.

This hotel is located a stones through away from the airport so it is very conveinant for business travelers. I was in town for a wedding however. Being so close to the airport saves you the expense of a cab ride into that city.

Transportation: there is a free hotel shuttle. Other than the airport this hotel is not conveniently located to places of interest. You can take the shuttle to the metro train which I highly recommend. I needed to take a taxi to a local day spa which was 3 miles away and it cost me $30 round trip - ouch.

Decor - beautiful. Ultra modern, sleek and clean design. From the lobby to the restaurant to the rooms and ball rooms, "well appointed" is indeed an apt description. I love commercial interior design and was delightd with the little details.

Services / amenities - I have to give them a failing grade on this one. There is no pool, no spa, no drink machines (only pricey mini bar) and no out door seating. It was personally very cold temperature-wise and It struck me odd that there was no place outdoors to enjoy this property. I actually ended up catching a cold, it was so frigid for me.

Prices - this venue is on the pricey side. It is clearly more suitted for business travellers who are less likely to be concerned about paying for wifi in room and $5 bottles of water because it will be expensed.

Customer service - superior.

Food - great quality food. Again, not for the budget conscious. Fresco 21's $19 breakfast bar is all inclusive and tasty.

Room Tip: You really can't go wrong with room choices.

Dear Guest,
Thank you for your feedback. We're very glad that you enjoyed the hotel and the decor. As you noticed, we operate an art gallery and our next exhibit is due to be installed in early October. We hope you will have the chance to return then.

My wife and I travel 7 or 8 times per year, both for business and pleasure. Staying at the InterContinental at O'Hare in Chicago (especially because of Eva at the front desk) was the best hotel service and experience we've had in the last 9 or 10 years, bar none!!!!! The place is a TRUE 4+ star hotel, gorgeous, the rooms and decor are beautiful, ultra clean and comfortable and the suites are stunning and include 2 person, walk in rain showerheads. Fantastic! But what really took the cake is I came on my birthday and when Eva at the front desk found this out, she really went out of her way to make my stay special, including sending up a piece of birthday cake complete with candle and a personalized card to our suite! Iman who brought it up to us was warm and sincere as well with a great smile! Our suite even came with a complimentary bag of the so good it ought to be illegal Garrett's popcorn when we arrived. I will stay here EVERYTIME we come back to chi-town. If you visit Chicago for any reason, do yourself a favor and stay here and be treated the way you deserve when you spend your hard earned money.

Room Tip: Ask to upgrade to a suite when you get there, it's well worth it.

We spent one night at this hotel after flying in to Chicago. It is located within a few minutes drive of the airport and has several places to eat outside as well as a restaurant of its own.

Parking is additional whether you self park or for a few extra dollars use the valet. Internet is also additional and in the evening proved painfully slow.

The room was well appointed and comfortable. Just your standard stopover type room but clean and virtually no noise from either road or airport.

Breakfast was excellent. Lots of variety. Fresh cooked eggs, good selection of both hot and cold dishes. Great service from staff both in the restaurant and at the front desk.

For a stopover in transit would recommend and use again for location and a good breakfast to start the day.
