We arrived weary after a long journey (from New Zealand) in the early hours of the morning. We were already grumpy, because the free hotel shuttle stops at 12:30am. Our flight was originally due in at midnight, so I never did check the reservation information to see if the shuttle had restricted hours. Perhaps that is stated. A moot point, since at 1am we had to find a taxi -- not easy from the O'Hare shuttle connection area.

$20 later (yes, a rip-off for 1 mile or so, but we were desperate) we arrived to a busy lobby with several parties before us checking in. All of their enquiries seemed complicated -- it was the longest check in process per party I have ever observed. And the ambience wasn't improved by the presence of several drunk/high/not exactly savory folk.

The Priority Club desk had been busy when we arrived (flight crew - there sure was a lot of business from O'Hare after the free shuttle stopped). Having waited in line at least 20 minutes my husband lost patience when the Priority Club receptionist had no business and steadfastly stared at his computer. No eye contact, no acknowledgement of customers, nothing. Husband's assertiveness came to the fore and informed the receptionist we had a prior reservation, 'can he help us.'

Very grudgingly, he did. We finally arrived at our room at 2 a.m. The room itself was absolutely fine - everything we needed, and quiet.

We woke up to a bill adding tax to our already pre-paid (including tax) account. Fortunately the receptionist dealt with the issue promptly - no complaints there. The shuttle back to O'Hare was great - we made the Blue Line and thankfully left HI Express for more customer-oriented accommodations in the Loop.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the your hotel. It was very clean and the staff were very helpful.

In particular, Danny at the front desk helped us with with points of interest and where to shop. Everyone in our party commented very positively about the breakfasts served and prepared by Jenny. One person in our party is a veteran breakfast included deals. Weekends they serve a continental breakfast and a hot breakfast on weekdays.

Fitness machines are equipped with individual entertainment systems. The washrooms in the public areas are sanitized each morning and the hotel provides a more comfortable brand of toliet tissue.

Some other reviews complained about the aircraft noise. Yes we did hear the planes when we opened the windows (yes the windows do open) but never in the evening when we were sleeping.

Note that parking is an additional charge but in and out privileges are available. By the way, travelling downtown is quicker and less stressful if you drop your car off at the Rosemount Station - Blue Line pay your $4 and hop on the CTA. There is an available CTA single day pass which can be purchased at specific CVA pharmacies. The one near the visitor centre has them.

We had money left over to go to Twin Anchors for crisp fall off the bone ribs and the deadly Chicago Hot Dogs at Weiners Circle (if the police go there does that mean the food is good?)

Congrats to the staff. Anyone who wants more info can e-mail me at [--].

Enjoy.

shuttle runs every half hour between hotel and ORD. Hotel is close to airport, clean but not quiet. Desk staff is efficient, lobby computers are free, wifi is free. The traffic noise and airplane noise is a negative.

Just got back from my trip to Chicago and stayed at this HI Express the night before my flight, and I highly recommend it. The rooms were spotless, housekeeping did an excellent job. We had two queen beds and each came with four pillows, two soft and two firm, which was labeled on the pillowcase. It was so nice having that firm pillow instead of having to squish two or three pillows together like at most hotels.
There was a computer station with a printer in the very nice & big lobby solely for printing boarding passes. Didn't use it but it was nice having all the flights for the day listed on the TV above it. Plus, FREE WI-FI in rooms was greatly appreciated (fairly fast, too).
I only had time for a quick breakfast, but I was able to sit down for a few minutes to enjoy those HIE cinnamon rolls. Every station was well stocked - plenty of toast, bagels, hard boiled eggs, yogurt, and juice. I was impressed how quick the tables were serviced, it was not especially busy but everything was keep very clean in the large dining area.
I didn't have to park, but did notice the lot was gated & you had to pay.
Airport shuttles were prompt and quick with friendly drivers. I'd highly recommend for any airport travelers looking for a place to stay.

Stayed 1 night each way to Mexico. Have always found Holiday Inns very clean wherever, this one was no exception. The staff were very helpful and shuttlebus drivers pleasant too. No restaurant on sight but didn't need it as plenty nearby within walking distance. The shuttlebus will take you there and back if you wish. They even run us to the nearest pharmacy in Target. You won't get more helpfull than that.
Will definitely use them again on a Chicago stopover.
