Description: Hofbrauhaus Chicago is the first and only German micro brewery, beer hall, restaurant and beer garden to call Chicago home. Modeled after the legendary Hofbrauhaus in Munich, Germany, it takes pride giving you an experience as authentic and unforgettable as the 400-year-old original. Guests can savor schnitzels, sausages, Sauerbraten and pretzels, and some ingredients are even imported from abroad. The freshly brewed beer follows the purity law from 1516 using original recipes handed down by the Duke of Bavaria over 400 years ago. With its beer hall (Schwemme), King Ludwig Room, and Biergarten in summer, it's Oktoberfest every day. Hofbrauhaus Chicago also features live music nightly with bands from Germany and Austria. In addition, you can take a piece of Bavaria home from the gift shop stocked with authentic and unique Bavarian gifts & collectibles.

Being a non-alcohol drinker, I have no idea that this is a very famous beer house and has multiple locations. I am here purely for food and it is very good. Price is very reasonable. I am glad I went.

A fun place to go for German food and beer. We were lucky that they now take reservations and heard stories of long waits. We had several of the pork and sausage dishes and all were very good and hearty. The apple strudel dessert was very good and large enough to share. Good German beer choices. The band was very entertaining and got people singing and dancing. For a good time and good German food give it a try.

Our group of 3 couples dinned here on a Friday night. The restaurant was very crowded, glad we had reservations. The German band is good and very lively, encouraging diners to join in the fun. The service was spotty at first but improved later in the evening as the crowd thinned. Everyone loved their meals. The only drawback is that it is impossible to talk over the music so save the conversation for another time.

This was my husband's choice for his recent birthday lunch as he'd been anxious to try since it opened last winter. We traveled over an hour on packed expressways, arriving around 4PM. Not too many customers, and, after our experience, I can understand why.

The hostess was quick to greet and seat us, and that was the end of anything that I would refer to as service. We sat at our table (the restaurant is styled as a Munich beer hall with long tables flanked by benches seating at least a dozen - not the place to go if you want any sort of intimate dining) for ten minutes with no attention. I spotted high tops in the bar and asked a waitress in that area if we could eat there, then moved, thinking we would get some attention there. Another 15 minutes passed before anyone came to our table, the bartender who apparently doubled as waitstaff in that area of the restaurant. We were starving by then, but he insisted on taking our drink orders before entertaining any food selection and seemed to be perturbed that we were ordering the smallest (10 oz) stein they offered. Two beers took another ten minutes to arrive - perhaps he had to fly to Munich to tap them. We decided just to have an appetizer (a delicious and ample assortment of German cold cuts) and another round of drinks, worrying how long it would take to order, much less be served a full meal. We headed home and dined nearby.

I'm sure that this spot has the advantage of the number of hotels located nearby that houses the large convention crowds that visit Rosemont, but I can tell you that this 3rd generation German won't ever be back.

We enjoyed celebrating my husband's birthday here. We went on a Thursday in the early evening and there was no waiting. The various sausages and pork roast we tried were very good. The sauerkraut and red cabbage were above average. The band was entertaining and the good mood infectious. Would go again for a family celebration.
