Description: Hofbrauhaus Chicago is the first and only German micro brewery, beer hall, restaurant and beer garden to call Chicago home. Modeled after the legendary Hofbrauhaus in Munich, Germany, it takes pride giving you an experience as authentic and unforgettable as the 400-year-old original. Guests can savor schnitzels, sausages, Sauerbraten and pretzels, and some ingredients are even imported from abroad. The freshly brewed beer follows the purity law from 1516 using original recipes handed down by the Duke of Bavaria over 400 years ago. With its beer hall (Schwemme), King Ludwig Room, and Biergarten in summer, it's Oktoberfest every day. Hofbrauhaus Chicago also features live music nightly with bands from Germany and Austria. In addition, you can take a piece of Bavaria home from the gift shop stocked with authentic and unique Bavarian gifts & collectibles.

“Good fun and pretty realistic”
Reviewed May 9, 2013

Having been to beer halls in various German cities, I was quite surprised to find this a realistic representation, and was all very good fun. We only had drinks (with beer available in 1 litre sizes) sat outside in the sun, but it was perfectly pleasant (other than when those REALLY loud MD-80's fly overhead).

Staff were very friendly and looked like they were enjoying themselves, would recommend this if you want a bit of a laugh

“Great experience”
Reviewed May 7, 2013

Friendly staff. Great entertainment with the band wandering around. Really enjoyed the experience. Food is a bit pricey. Also, be prepared to wait if you're there on a weekend for dinner (our 1st attempt had a two hour wait, we came back on a weeknite instead). Wonderful atmosphere

“Fun!”
Reviewed May 7, 2013

Went here opening weekend and it was a mess!!! They could not handle the amount of people and were totally disorganized. They have since gotten much better with their coordination. The food is very good, the atmosphere is fun and the beer is great. Can't wait to check out the outdoor beer garden this month!

“Prost”
Reviewed May 7, 2013

The food was amazing. I had a sausage platter and a cold cucumber salad that was out of this world. The beer ( I believe it was the lightest) complemented the meal, and I was singing along with the band (6 years of German and I only know drinking songs!)

“Not authentic”
Reviewed May 5, 2013

The food is not authentic German food. Very over priced for what you get. The jagerschnitzel was extremely dry. My son ordered their black forest cake and he said that was OK. If you want authentic German food choose somewhere else. The music was OK. Very Loud but was the only thing I found close to being German.
