“Good food, cheap prices”
Reviewed April 27, 2014

We decided to stop here on our way to Springfield based on reviews on Yelp. They were right! Food was excellent, staff was very friendly and my coffee cup was never empty. We were afraid that they'd be too busy based on the parking lot, but we only waited about 5 minutes to get seated and 10 minutes for our food. Definitely worth stopping for breakfast if you're in the area.

“Reasonable Prices - Large Variety - Busy”
Reviewed April 19, 2014

On State just west of Alpine; this reminds me of the Greek-family-owned restaurants - lots of options, reasonable prices, decent quality, and large servings. Booths and tables for parties of 2 to large groups; bar at the front for single seats to eat facing the grill. Breakfast is offered all day - I had the Pamwich: 2 dinner-sized cakes with a thick slice of ham in the middle and topped with 2 eggs for $5.99, served with butter and warm syrup. My husband had 2 pork tenders smothered in a dark gravy, side of 'canned' peas / carrots, bread basket, salad - good size, and a bowl of mostaccioli for $8.99. The service is prompt and attentive - the food was very good and filling - most people leave w/ a to-go box. If you're looking for a spot that isn't a chain - feels more like a diner - with a large selection of good quality food - I'd recommend this location. Good for all ages -

“Very good and wide variety”
Reviewed February 22, 2014 via mobile

I see most Trip Advisor reviewers posted about breakfast so this was a lunch visit for us. The menu is large for any meal of the day and we had sliced turkey and chicken salad sandwiches and the soup today was Wisconsin cheddar (outstanding) and vegetable ( very good) the chicken salad had nice chunks of chicken and moist and as for the turkey was nice and moist unlike a lot of places where it could be the opposite. The hours 7 am to 8pm all days except Sunday which is 7 am to 2 pm. I would like though if the customers would not throw their trash in the parking lot on this well run husband and wife restaurant.

“The place to eat on State Street”
Reviewed September 12, 2013

So we stayed at the Alpine Inn down the street from here and wanted some good food close by. The suggestion was to stop at Johnny Pamcakes. Good thing we did. This place knows what good food is. If you like excellent service and great food, especially if you stay the night at the Alpine Inn, you will have had one of the greatest experiences anyone can have. I would highly recommend this for a couple to do. Stay a night down the street at the Alpine Inn then get a great meal at Johnny Pamcakes then go sight seeing and come back to Johnny Pamcakes for another great meal. the only way you will know how good johnny Pamcakes is, you have to experience it for your self. I will tell you it is worth the trip to eat here.

“The best.”
Reviewed August 4, 2013

Went to Johnny Pamcakes on Saturday night, July 27. We had 10 people, including four youngsters ranging in age from 4 to 13. We only gave them about a half hour notice that we were coming, but when we got there they had tables set up to accommodate us. In addition to having a wide assortment of good food that pleased everyone, the services of our two waitresses was outstanding. This is one of the few times where everyone in our group was satisfied with both the food and service. Needless to say I would not only recommend this restaurant for it's great breakfasts (for which it is noted), but also for lunch and diner.
