“Great place”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 11, 2010

Surprised that the reviews on tripadvisor compared to my experience were so different.

Great lobby, room was refurbished and quiet - comfortable beds, modern tv (not a plasma but who really cares), coffee at 5:30am for free in the lobby, great shuttle service to the airport both ways was reliable. Bennigans attached has a friendly staff and flexible choices for dinner - open to 11pm and connected to the hotel on the inside - it appears that they are refurbishing the entire building attached with a hair salon and office as well. Great local tavern across the street if you're into that kind of thing.

No complaints. Great price on Priceline. Fabulous for the value.

We made our reservation with Priceline. In this instance this was not good. We got a room that was very worn out! The dust/dirt had not been cleaned off the phone and clock radio for a long time. The air conditioned room was cool but the unit did not get the humidity out of the room. We called the front desk at 11 pm for a wake up call but there was no answer. The place is shop worn indeed. The whole are around the property is depressed with numerous storefronts empty. I sent a e-mail to the management company Kinseth Hospitality in North Liberty, IA. and detailed the disappointment. They never replied. I guess that tells you something!! They don't care. I would not suggest this place to anyone. On par with a motel of the 1960s in this persons opinion.

My husband & I stayed @ The Holiday Inn Rock Island because my husband is from Rock Island. We choose this hotel because of the location - it is the only hotel in Rock Island, IL. My husband wanted to show me where he was from and grew up. The hotel staff was extreamly friendly and welcoming to us - they even had fresh baked cookies which was a nice treat. We are also Priority Club members which they recognized @ check in & had a neat little goody bag for us. They offered us an upgrade w/ a great view of the Mississippi River. The hotel seemed a bit older but room was very clean and smelled fresh. We had dinner over @ Bennigans where our server was very nice. We had a great meal. We don't have a Bennigan's anymore where we are from so we've missed it. We will definatly be back to this hotel!

Went to check in for a King size room that was reserved 2 weeks earlier only to find out that my room went to someone else, presumably a wedding party. I learned there were 2 options (rooms) available, one on site and one at another hotel. I was not happy with this a bit but took the remaining room on property and received a 20% discount for my 2 double bed room. After that, service was very good. The property was dated, and the rooms had some wear. My wife and I enjoyed the prospect of being away from our children for a night after taking in a concert in Moline, so when the housekeepers started cleaning the rooms near our's we were disappointed. The rooms have little to no sound deadening. As the housekeepers let the doors slam at the nearby rooms, we felt like they were slamming our door...that was a bummer.
We were very happy with the hotel courtesy van, they dropped us off at the I Wireless center and offered to pick us up prior to 11PM, the concert let out at 11:15PM, but the local LOOP bus was MORE then a good price to get us back to the District.
Parking was non-existant on property, easy to street park though.

My young daughter and I stayed here during the PGA golf event in the Quad Cities. Location was important to us, and this was almost perfect. There is a nice playground, fountain to play in, and biking/running trail along the river 2 blocks from the hotel. There is also a good brewpub about 3 blocks away. Parking was no problem. Our room was quiet and decent (good size, reasonably clean). You have to understand in advance that this is not going to be an upscale, tightly run hotel, but it is decent. There were some dirty spots in the lobby, a check-in computer crashed, and we received a bill under our door even though we had booked through priceline, but no big deal. Wifi is free (thanks Holiday Inn!). The pool was okay and the fitness center looked very extensive (treadmills, weights, punching bag, etc.) The shower head was low and the sink faucet leaked badly all over the floor when you turned it on cold. The staff was very friendly and helpful. To us, the location was the thing. We could walk to restaurants and live outdoor music events in the evening. Overall this was a quiet, comfortable hotel.

Received a good Hotwire rate for a last minute overnight on the Fourth of July. We planned to be at the casinos and dining out, so we weren't too worried about the room. Beds were a little too soft for us and the hotel overall had a dated feeling and a fusty odor. Bathroom didnt have an exhaust fan for venting steam during showers, which added to the musty fusty odor. Room windows opened slightly though and with fresh air and AC alternating, and maybe getting used to the surroundings, the situation improved. Free ample parking on the holiday weekend. The nearby brewpub was closed on Sundays which would have been a walkable destination, and only one other bar in the area was open to walk to. Not that we are booze hounds, just that we had left the kids at home and could have some adult time out. The coffee shop across the street, Theo's, was outstanding for breakfast, lingering over coffee and bagels, very nice staff and a highlight of the stay in Rock Island.
When staying in the Quad Cities, we usually stay at the Radisson on John Deere Commons. ... we will probably go back there next time and not choose this Holiday Inn.

Located in the “District” of downtown Rock Island, IL, the property has seen better days, years ago – upgrades can only do so much. However, the age of the property should not discourage folks from staying at the property.

Why?
- As any good realtor would state, three words describe the real estate market, “location, location, location.” Located in the heart of downtown Rock Island, the “District” is making a revival – many bars (to include the Blue Cat Pub, Rock Island Brewery) and restaurants are within walking distance. If you need to drive to the arsenal, it is a short five minute drive! Running/jogging is a joy – use the bike path paralleling the Mississippi River or run across the river to Iowa (Davenport) to explore the area.
- Gym – the gym on site is abysmal consisting of a treadmill, elliptical machine, and bike, and pool…however, attached, via the pool entrance is a complete commercial gym. Enter the gym by walking through the door with the awning and go to the front desk to sign in – just give them your room number and sign in. The gym has an aerobics room (elliptical machines, bikes, and treadmills), two weight rooms (1) dumbbells (5-110 lbs), machines, (2) barbells (complete with benches, squat racks, etc., room to do aerobics, etc. Needless to say, a full gym to work out is always a plus!
- Hilton calls it Manager’s Receptions – Holiday Inn calls it Priority Club reception, where domestic bier, wines, and a few snacks are provided. Do not imbibe too much because you will not be able to enjoy the bountiful of tasteful brews available at several of the local microbreweries. You receive a $5 voucher for breakfast to use at the Bennigans attached to the property . If not at Bennigans, there are two diners across the street.
- Staff is professional and friendly, very knowlegeable of the local area, cuisine, and attractions.

Others have already mentioned it, but…parking is limited. Thus, you may have to park on the street – not an issue if you have to leave before 0800. Signs on the street state two hours between 0800-1800; probably get ticketed if you stay too long. No refrigerator, iron, or microwave – not too big of an issue.

Definitely worth staying if staying in the area.
