“Not so bad afterall”
Reviewed September 23, 2008

Ok, so my wife booked this for our mini honeymoon. After reading the reviews I was sure the place would be a dive. Not so, I'm glad to report. The hotel is well kept. The desk staff was freindly and helpful. The lobby is inviting and there is a nice large sitting room right off the lobby. A buisiness center is also located there for those needing to check thier e-mail and make copies. I did not use the pool, so I really can't comment there. There are ballrooms for rent.

Our room was clean and comfortable. Not really anything special. i think our's was a handicapped room. The sink area was small. All the doors in the place were sticking in thier frames due to the very wet weather during our stay.

Parking is inadequete. The other reviews were right there. There was a wedding reception going on durring our stay and parking was cramped. We did find a spot, but it was not really a designated parking spot.

There is plenty to do around the hotel, with resturants, coffee shops, etc. There is a Bennigan's in the hotel. We did not eat there. Check out lagomarcinos candy shop.

Overall we were pleased with our stay. The quad cities offer a lot to do and this hotel is right in the thick of it. I'd stay here again.

Staff was very nice. Room not the cleanest. Maid never cleaned coffee pot. Chairs in room had stains on them. Bathroom newly remodeled and in great shape. Neighborhood not the best at night. Would not stay here again.

There's nothing really wrong with this hotel outside of age...Location is right in the heart of downtown Rock Island with plenty of bars and a casino two blocks away.
I stayed on the 8th floor and had no problems. Granted, it's not the Ritz, but you can get a good an easy deal through Priceline. Don't pay full price!

We stayed here for a weekend. Both rooms were on the 8th floor. Very quiet. Our room was wonderful, large, clean, no problem. Our friends room had a problem with the air conditioner. It seemed like a few of the rooms had this same problem. When it was reported it seemed that it would be taken care of but it was not. The hotel over all seemed clean, and the front desk personel were great. Enjoyed the pool and small fitness room

I thought Holiday Inn was weeding out their dumpier locations, but this property is proof that they aren't.

Got to the hotel and there was apparently a wedding reception. All parking was taken by those in the reception(would be nice if they had reserved parking for guests) Was told I would have to park across the street in the public lot.

Lobby was very 70's chic. Elevators old. Got to the room to find wallpaper peeling, furniture in bad condition, 70's air con blasted hot air, the tub drain had been pulled out and not put back, stains in the tub. The doors to all the rooms looked like they were original from the 70's and they were disgusting.

Woken up several times by drunks roaming the hall shouting and yelling most likely from the wedding reception.

I was glad I only stayed for one night and I will make sure I never stay here again. Trust me go elsewhere this place is dump that is in desperate need of a good remodel.

I stayed at the Holiday Inn in downtown Rock Island, IL. The room was filthy. The chairs all had stains, the carpet was musty and stained and the bathroom was disgusting. There was years of dirt on the floor, the bathtub had ancient stains, the sink had a crack through it, the toilet seat had cracks and painted-over chips in it AND worst of all, there was fecal material on the shower curtain. I changed hotels. If you want a good hotel in Rock Island, go to the Stoney Creek Inn.

This really is a nice hotel. Here is what I like about it.

1) location - close to casino, downtown, restaurants.

2) Work out - they have a pool and an ENTIRE health club on the second level guests can use. How can you beat that. Sauna and everything.

3) Bennigans - 20% discount in the lobby. Can beat that with a stick.

4) ATM- right outside the hotel.

5) Barber Shop - in the lobby, how cool

6) Free coffee and donuts in the morning.

Nice staff and nice hotel. This isn't a 5 star, but I love it.
