If it was based on the views its got to be 5 stars all the way. The hotel is set in the most beautiful scenery. The weather was wonderful which also added to a lovely evening . We were sat at a table in front of a huge window looking out onto the ullswater lake .magnificent.
The meal was very nice with a very good selection with several courses. For dessert we both had the selection of mini desserts, perfect as we couldn't decide which pudding to have. The sticky toffee and the bakewell were my favourite.
Every course was cooked and presented very well except for a couple of dishes that my husband had were the dish came placed on a paper doily ... If you insist on using those out of date things I would use a fabric one. A little naff.
The service was fantastic I can't fault that at all.
Price wise defiantly good value for money. We must have had about 8 courses including coffee and sweets.
I will say we would have preferred some back ground music just to add a little atmosphere.
I'm glad we weren't staying in the hotel over night . For one its not my style but it wasn't really the decor more of the case it's getting very tired looking. With a little tlc this place could be the grand hotel I'm sure it once was.
