“The most beautiful location to stay in the Lakes”

Waternook really is somewhere incredibly special. With views that are out of this world, a great host who cooks a fabulous breakfast, I would have absolutely no doubt in recommending this beautiful haven to anyone visiting the Lakes.

We used Waternook as a base for exploring the Lakes and found it an amazing place to stay. Dominic was a great host, very friendly & helpful who supplied us with a delicious breakfast every morning. He also had some useful local knowledge for places to visit and to eat out locally. Whilst Waternook is well situated to access a lot of the Lakes it is a fair distance from the nearest village Pooley Bridge so it's definitely a drive (or cab) if you go for dinner/drinks - but this could be a positive depending on your point of view! The room we were in was one of the larger ones and was very spacious, with a beautiful view across the lake & hills to wake up to. It was a wonderful introduction to the Lake District and we'd gladly return to Waternook when we go back there.

The Waternook was chosen for it's location and it did not disappoint. Beautifully situated in wonderful scenery we loved the peace and quiet but with the chance to strike out into the rest of lakeland. The room was great as was the comfy bed. A return is on the cards. Dominic is to be commended.

Room Tip: Some rooms are larger but all extremely well appointed

From Dominic's welcome, to our last walk to the boathouse before we left for home, we were made comfortable, relaxed and incredibly well looked after. The beds are as amazingly comfortable, as the views from the windows are spectacular. Try the walk from the back garden to Glenridding then the steamer back to Howtown. Or explore the lake in one of Waternook,s boats (Kayak or canoe). I'm going back in summer to do more walking, then I might try to go again in winter, to experience the lakes in a different season, and can't think of a more beautiful and hospitable base than to go out and do that from.

Room Tip: This was our first time at Waternook and we found that the room called "Fusedale" is excel...

On returning home from this lovely B & B I felt I had to write a review! We spent 3 idyllic days here, made very welcome by Dominic. Our room was beautiful, with the most stunning views. The linen, bed, seating and lovely cups for cups of tea/coffee were all of the highest quality. The bedtime chocolates were especially appreciated and the breakfast delicious.
There is plenty of walking in the vicinity - a "Wainwright walk" being right on the doorstep. The Ullswater steamer is very convenient for trips(and excellent!) and there are several hostelries in Pooley Bridge for meals. Dominic tells me the hotel within walking distance of Waternook also does evening meals from April to Oct, so that would be another choice.
All in all, a very highly recommended place to saty!

Room Tip: All rooms have an excellent view. One of the standard rooms has a sink, whilst the Delux room had pl...
